Recently bought myself a K-plate KDX125 and have been searching high and low for information on it (history of the model, manuals, etc) but there seems to be very little information available.

Are there any of you helpful lot got information you'd like to share or anybody able to point me in the direction of a manual for it.

hi I used to have a '93 KDX 125 great bike !

There are two models, one is restricted by having the KIPS powervalve disconnected and a slightly too large main jet - 12bhp and the other is full power 26bhp. If you have the restricted model you can take off the plastic cover on the side of the head that says KIPS on it and reconnect the powervalve, which is a nice improvement. I always ran mine slightly too rich on the main and it would cruise happily at 70ish .

Mine was premix only and I ran it for 2 years with no problems. very good for green laning due to the light weight and motocross chassis, only problem i ever had was blowing tail bulbs but I cant say I blame the bike

had one a while back and it was nowt but trouble bought it and soon after it started loosing water and found it had a crack in the barrel

got it re sleaved (which wasnt cheap) and rebuilt it only for it to sieze a month later

it could have just been one of them bikes but on a plus note i drag raced it against my dtr i had at the time and the kdx won but there wasnt alot in it i do like the frame on the kdx's also

i stick with the dtr's now as there cheaper to fix lol

Cheers guys.

My bike is the restricted 12bhp version so that KIPS info is gratefully appreciated. Thumbs Up That will be getting looked into very shortly.

I've only ever had DTs in the past and found them good bikes and ideal for what I needed them for (I prefer lightweight upright mx styled bikes). What I am also finding out now though is that they are a lot easier to get 2nd hand parts for.

Just bought this KDX as 1, it was going for a decent price and 2, I always fancied one in my younger days. Laughing

Plan is just to run it through the summer and maybe strip it and refurbish it a bit through the winter months as a wee project, hence looking for as much info on the wee sh*te as I can find. I've bought a KDX200 manual that covers models round about the same age and am also planning to get a KX125 manual from around the same age. Hopefully I will be able to get enough stuff out of them to help.

Cheers again guys.

hey capt b - i dont hav techy info available for you but i had an H reg 91 model for ages - it sat in the back of the shed and was in brilliant condition - every other year id get it mot'd taxed an insured an just play about on it - never had a minutes bother with that bike, the odd new batter and spark plug and change of fluids and it was a great bike, fun, reliable ... it got nicked otherwise i wud still have it today. - replaced it with a 2000, W reg immaculate kmx125 that i still use today as the occasional 2 stroke traillie bike!

enjoy it - if u look after it its like a toyota - itll go on for years! Wink Very Happy

I had one for a few years, went well, reliable, but it was the seat from Hell. Twentyfive miles and I couldn't stand the pain any longer. Never had a bike so uncomfortable in me life.
