They found my CG i was going to use in the CAFE racer, its at a garage i assume an MOT garage or breakers, called AAA by me, the fuckers stole it in ORRELL and rode it to SKEMERSDALE just round the corner, its notorious for thefts and stabbings and obviously ringed bikes and cars.

I knew it was around, my question is i'm going to go see it tomoz, but will it be too late? they did ring me quite late and i was having me tea haha so will they realease it if i dont phone them instantly?
I want it back, i'll even restore and cafe it if its in bad condition.

If it's been recovered by the police then you want to get to the garage to collect it ASAP cos they'll charge storage per day as well as charging you for recovering the bike.

Yup, they'll start totting up how much they can reasonably charge you for recovery and storage. It's defo in your best interests to claim it bask ASAP!!

Assuming the police are going to perform some forensic tests on the bike you will not be liable to pay additional charges (beyond recovery at £120) for storage until they complete this, but check with them as to what they intend to do.
They should notify you when they've finished with the bike then you can collect it.

If they want to perform CSI tests dont they need my concent? Insurance didnt know it was stolen.

No, they just inform you that they will be holding the bike for a couple of days. You don't day storage for these. After this you pay between £10 and £30 a day on top of the recovery fee. There is no way to dispute the fee, the bike isn't released until it is paid in full and if you don't collect it then the costs keep increasing.

I'm not sure about needing your consent but you could probably tell them you didn't want them to investigate it and just wanted to collect it, but find out what is happening. I was told I could collect mine without waiting for them if I wanted to, but obviously preferred them to at least try to find out who nicked it.

No they can't. The fees are controlled. There are a few exceptions to the fees though such as the need for specialist recovery equipment (and sometimes they seem to try it on that a bit needs specialist equipment).

The fees are charged in relation to vehicles recovered for all sorts of reasons - as evidence, for examination for further evidence, s.59 legislation etc etc. It depends on the reasons/circumstances of the recovery as to who pays for the cost of recovery (and subsequent storage.)
