big bike tests and costs, some advice please?

Hello again,

Recently made a post about theory tests as i was worried i can't book it in time before my current CBT runs out and still have time to do mod 1 and 2.......

Well i can't book it in time

So what i did was phone my test centre i used to do my CBT which i passed 2yrs ago october.

Basicly they are offering me for £500 for me to re pass my CBT, training for mod 1, mod 1 test, training for mod 2 and mod 2 test.....

All i have to do is pay extra for my theory test.

The traning is 4 days worth including a day for CBT and i can either do this all as a crash course or do what they normally do and just do and split it all up over a couple of weeks depending how long it takes for me to pass my mod's....

So is the £500 for:
CBT
Training for mod 1
Mod 1 test
Training for mod 2
Test for mod 2

Is it a good price? / Have you seen better from test centres in either Rotherham or Huddersfield?

I paid...

£90 for CBT
£60 for Mod 1 training
£15 for Mod 1 test
£140 for Mod 2 training
£70 for Mod 2 test

£375 in total spread over a period of 6 weeks though.

I can't split it up as well as Stuart, but I paid £475 for Mod 1 and Mod 2 + 3 days training.

@ stu, how long was the training for mod 1 and mod 2 though?

Thats a good point. mod 1 training lasted for 4 hrs going around the DSA course, Mod 2 training was a full 8 hr day riding under instruction and a 1 hr refresher before the test.

My DAS was back in 2005, and starting from absolutely no bike experience at all, I did CBT, theory, 4-5days DAS and relevant test(s) for <£500

I went from 0 experience to a bike licence for about £600.

Training is expensive in my area, but I really don't think that after 2 years of riding you will need as much training as a biking noob (me) did.

just been phoning arround and there only looks to be one motorbike training and test place in huddersfield, they are quite a rip off too.

they were wanting i think it was near £400 for training and mod 1 by its self lol

I paid £120 for my cbt, I then paid £580 for 4 days of das including test fees, bike hire, equipment etc. I could have got the das cheaper by maybe £100-150 for 4 days worth in the Birmingham area but I had a look at a few places, did an assessment ride and decided that wheels training in Bham was very thorough, suited me and I was very confident about passing 1st time win them, which I did and couldn't recommend them enough to anyone in the Birmingham area.

One thing to consider, you may be able to get cheap training, but if the quality is rubbish and you fail a test or two it'll end up costing you more in the long run. Where I trained they took you on b roads and country lanes even though its not part of the test as they want to make you safe riders, and once you pass a large proportion of riding will be on those kind of roads.

either way i look at it, i am going to have to do my CBT again.

just not sure if to do my cbt asap, then wait until i turn 21 to do my DAS, the problem is i have never rode a big bike for more than 100 metres before....

my other option purely is to do my cbt and bike test and be on ristroctors for 2 years...

shall have to have a think about it all over night.

I had never ridden a big bike at all, and my only experience of bikes before my dad was 6 weeks in Nepal on 150cc bikes where you don't need a cbt or license! Don't worry too much about lack of experience on a big bike, if you find a good school with good tuition you'll be fine.

CBT has been booked for this wednesday at 9am so early lol

and iel be booking the theory test once paid end of week most likely
