my bike has failed the MOT on a light issue??
lights when in the off position....when i pull or push either brakes the side light on headlight comes on and goes off when i release the brakes?????


is this a short or bad earth or not a fault at all?????
any ideas....dont fancy spending £80+ in the local rip off bike shop to find out its nothing....

Its a fault.
& its most LIKELY a bad earth connection in the brake lamp, so when the stop lamp is switched on, volts return through the tail-lamp circuit, rather than the frame......
Get a cross head screw-driver & length of wire.
Remove tail lamp lense.
Attach end of wire to battery negative, other end to the metal bucket of the stop-lamp bulb.. you may have to remove bulb from reflector & bare enough to wrap it around & push it back in so you get the contacts on the bottom still.
Press brake pedal, and if the side lights dont light up, theres your problem.
Bad earth on tail lamp assembly.
Strip, inspect, poke, prod, clean contacts, bolts & bits of metal that touch..... should go away....
