Evil or Very Mad The fuckwit local council here have just resurfaced the dirt track to our compound which is nice of them..but they've done it in a typically half-arsed Turkish way, and just sprayed the fine gravel with liquid tar...I met the tarring machine at the point of no return on the track and now have a lovely black and red CG Shocked

What's the best stuff for getting this shite off?

PS; Am I alone in having a 'thing' about the smell of fresh tar Embarassed Laughing

I like the smell of tar tool. Laughing

Claim off them to remove it. It was them who put it there. Write to them and say you want it removed now. See what they say.

Thumbs Up

Used to used lighter fluid to get it off skin as a kid, I'd guess the stuff you have in your tank should work ok Smile

ThatHornet- Now that IS funny Laughing Very Happy When they've picked themselves off the floor and stopped laughing, I can tell you exactly what they'll say...and it won't be 'here's 200€ for your inconvenience sir' Laughing
It's more likely to be 'siktir git!'

T1z3R- It's probably hot enough here not to need to warm it up beforehand, but there's too much of it just to wipe it off Shocked

But whatever, I'll wait until they've actually finished making a fucking mess! The latest is a surface of huge chippings rolled into the almost dry tar...hmm.

At various points in the past I've used various oil based substances to remove adhesive etc from paintwork...

- Petrol with a clean cloth and a little elbow grease

- Gunk degreaser seemed to work the best

...and the hairdryer method also works to some extent.

Well I can highly recommend white spirit and WD40 Wink Thumbs Up

Started off trying a bit of WD40 and that seemed to shift it, but didn't fancy using my only supply to clean the tar off then to find the bike wouldn't start after I'd washed it...

Soo, nipped down to the local garage and discovered they'd got something called Tarr Cleaner for the equivalent of 3€, but no WD40..Ok, I'll have some of that!

Turns out to be white spirit (label in Turkish) in a spray type jobby like you get for glass cleaner etc.

Anyway, it worked perfectly Smile Bike also started after a dousing of water, and the last of my WD40 went over everything to keep it looking lovely Wink

Thanks all Thumbs Up

Tiff
