Just a query about it really. In previous jobs I've paid about £25 a month National Insurance. In this job I get paid weekly and pay between £15 - £25 a week. I'm also paying upto about £75 a week in tax. I'm literally working a whole day to pay both.

Is this normaly. What do you normally pay each month in NIC.

Cheers in advance.

The quick and dirty way is anything over £115 is to take 33% off it and this should be the amount of tax you pay, roughly.

Cheers for that little tip Itchy.

Herulach thats a cool link cheers mate. It's not far off about 11 pound out.

Other thing with my pay is 2 year ago I didn't pay any tax for a certain amount of time due to the personal allowance you get at the start of the year. I think this years is something like £6,475.

I haven't had the allowance this year for some reason. A couple of people who started work at the same time as me got it and haven't paid tax yet. Can I find out if I was due to it or how come I haven't recieved my allowance.

You don't get the allowance all in one go, get one of your payslips and look at the taxcode.

PAYE works that you earn a certain amount tax free per month, over that you get taxed. The basic code is 647L. You multiply the number by 10 to get the tax free allowance.

If other people aren't paying tax, they're either going to get stung for it later, or they are earning less than the allowance (so less than £540/month, £125/week)

We all pretty much earn the same, we work the same amount of hours etc etc.

I have the tax code 647L as do they but they aren't paying tax. We got the pay slips today for this week and again I have about 75 in tax and they have paid none.
