I have a Triumph bike and have been looking to get a new short length textile jacket. Triumph have their own branded jackets which looks quite good, however will it look stupid having the jacket and riding the bike? Also does anyone know if these are made under license by another company and therefore come in 'plain' colours. Heres what I'm looking at...

'Lexington' jacket.
https://www.worldoftriumph.com/shopimages/products/normal/Lexington.jpg

'Paragon' jacket.
https://www.procycles.com.au/prodimages/triumph/personal/paragon_2_jacket_m.jpg

Also, any experience of triumph clothing, is it any good? Any reccomendations for alternatives?

They both look 'fanboy', not sure that I'd want to toi be wearing either during a spill tbh.

I like the idea but the paragon jacket just looks a bit daft and tacky, like something from an Atari game cover.

I've heard good things about Triumph kit, but personally wouldn't want to wear bike specific clothing.
Plus, the consideration of a possible price increase due to the branding?? I'm sure there's other non-branded (or at least less conspicuous) kit that's just as good if not better for less £££'s

Don't think I've done the Triumph kit I had much justice up there. It was easily as good quality as my HG stuff. It was a two piece zip together textile suit, was fully water proof until the last 6 months or so and lasted my dad coming off with no issues.

Obviously that's from a while back, but as long as the quality hasn't changed I would have no problems recommending their stuff Thumbs Up

as long as you've got good protection then it really doesn't matter what you wear........

HOWEVER! How you wear your gear is another matter i.e Jeans tucked into bike boots is a no no!

Just like the bikes, there's plenty out there that's just as good but without the inflated price tag.

I've had my Triumph jacket for years and its solid, has crashed well, is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Can't ask for more really.

But then, I don't currently ride a Triumph so I can get away with it.

^^^Just like guitars. My Stonebridge whoops my Dad's Martin...and his had a 10yr head start.

People like recognisable brands..comforting innit. And an audience likes recognisable brands. Gibson/Fender/Marshall/Vox/Roland.
S'all balls tho......

Well not quite all balls. Established brands create a benchmark which stands them in good stead for when the bean counters make cuts. Which sometimes = lower benchmark.
New brands can far surpass the old.

My alpinestar boots far surpass my frank thomas boots. Same price.
My £25 GBLeather gloves are miles better than the £100 Alpinestars that rotted away.

In short...Do your homework, investigate, and you decide, not the brand.

Pat
That Triumph Jacket does look nice tho Smile

Hi mate.

I'm personally not a fan of buying branded clothing because of the name etc. (I will buy something because it's good quality and I like it, not because there's someone's name on it).

I think that choosing not to buy something you like that IS branded (as long as you're not buying it because it has triumph all over it) because you're worried what other people think is as "gay" as people who buy clothing because it has that brand on it.

So pretty much get what you want. So many people get annoyed with what other people wear or don't wear on the bike and it never ceases to amaze me.

Who cares? It's their choice?

Get what you want. Don't make your choices for people who judge you just for your appearance as they aren't worth worrying about anyway. Thumbs Up

I ALWAYS do this even though I know it's supposed to be a fashion faux pas. I'm not on a bike to try and look cool. Rolling Eyes

Triumph make excellent clothing My winter kit is Triumph I only where it on the TDM because the S4 doesn't get used in wetness/cold. I've crashed in 2 different triumph jackets both held up very well and are still perfectly usable, My big jacket I use for wetness and extreme cold, it take me about 40 -45 minutes to get to work if it is wet and cold. Even commuting in the snow last winter I was never cold in it.

My big jacket is going into it's 4th winter and is still 100% waterproof.

If I where to buy new kit for winter it would be Triumph.

So you'd rather have wet ends to your jeans? Fashion is for poofs, normal folk don't give a flying fuck about it.

If it's raining you will have something on over the jeans, then it is acceptable to tuck jeans in.

If it is sunny and you are just wearing jeans, it is not.

It surprises me how depressing I find this example of the degree to which the British male has allowed himself to be emasculated over the last few years.

It'll only look gay if that jacket is the only thing you're wearing whilst riding, tbh.
