Everywhere gives it good reviews but is it actually any good?

You only watched the first 45 minutes? What the hell?

That's all just building the story line. None of the action happens at all. Laughing

Seriously, just watch the rest of the movie, it's quite likely you'll be entertained. It's a movie that you really should watch all at once though. I really enjoyed the second half.

It's an excellent film, you should delete the numbers of the people you were with from your phone and avoid all future contact.

If they give you any shit, just say "I'm not Fokken scared of you maan"

Film is awesome, first 15mins or so had me thinking it was going to be shit but it turned out to be one of the best films ive seen in the last couple of years.
I once made other people watch Hudson Hawk whilst stoned. I was mocked for it.

Joke film, it's definitely in my top 3 of 2009.

The seamless transition between "This South African's a twat." and "This poor South African. Sad" is sublime.

I'm genuinely confused. Please explain in which ways it was generic and in which ways it was preachy?

Quality film. Don't take it too seriously, think of it as in the mould of robocop and aliens.

Particularly robocop, as it has a slightly cheesy dose of schmaltz.

Still good though, and has far more character than a hollywood action movie.

As said, if its action you want, you havent seen the film if you stopped at 45mins.

Don't want to go into major detail as it will spoiler it, but as far as I could see it turned into a bog standard action/chase flick with big guns, mecha, explosions and a moralistic undertone. The start was promising, by the time it was 30 minutes from the end I was bored and tired of the unsubtle message.

@ Ghostrider; I'm presuming after your earlier post that I'll be set as enemy once you read this, so I'll say goodbye now Laughing

I think Colin gauged it about right, it's the same kind of intellectual level as Robocop, just updated CGI and set within Saffer social parameters. The main reason for my disappointment was that I was expecting something ground breaking after hearing the hype and mates raving about it, whatever else the film may be, ground breaking is not it.

Your complaint seems to be that this film contained action comparible to other films and that it contains.... wait for it.... morals. Neutral

This must clearly be a bad thing.

Nope, my point is simply that it's not an "awesome" film and it's sure as hell not fresh and new. For what it is? Not bad but in no way great. Just a personal opinion.

On which note, I'm off to watch "Love Actually" again. Toodle pip Laughing

Meh, very good film, but it's not exactly a subtle moral.

AAAAAAAAAAAAND.... because I hate logical fuck ups in films. IF the aliens were starving and generally down trodden... AND they had fuck loads of this hardcore weaponry and mek suits... AND they are obviously quite happy with violence to Humans...

Why the fuck hadn't they ever used any of it?

Why sell the suits to the kaffers, rather then just use them to go acquire cat food.

And they walk the mek suit in to the kaffers base, so they must be functional.

But anyway, very light film. Looking forward to District 10.

I would merrily, however, cripple any person who voted to turn of an action film that is 2 hours long after 45 minutes of obvious build up.

Were there women involved? Dense women at that?

He actually is South African though, are you suffering from scouse overload? Too much X Factor and Cheryl Cole!

And protip - if you feel at all squeemish about fingernails then dont eat before you watch it again. I nearly made a mess in the cinema having eaten a massive BBQ chicken sammich before Embarassed

It was a bit preachy, but is way way ahead of robocop.
It also had that gritty/non polished feel that I much prefer over hollywood shinyness.
