Right guys and girls, sadly I’ve decided I’m going to let go of my CBR as I’ve stopped commuting on her now so she’s not being used and the insurance is about to run out too. Embarrassed to say I’ve turned into the dreaded “weekend warrior” only ridden 1500miles on her this year and fancy a sharper more powerful weekend toy.
If you are looking for a mint bike please look elsewhere because this isn’t one. If you are looking for a solid reliable all round workhorse and don’t mind the odd blemish and marks from a 10year+ bike then read on.
First the essentials, this model is the first of the aluminium frame models, has adjustable suspension which they removed from the later models, a centre stand that’s makes maintenance a doddle, HISS immobiliser and a decent storage space under the seat, I can get a thick security chain and other bits under it.
36606 miles (May go up slightly if we have anymore sunshine), MOT till 19th March 2011, Tax till end of May, Only got a little history from my ownership as I tend to do most of the work myself. Have last 4 MOT certificates here in which she flew through all and the odd receipt for tyres, chains & sprockets etc.
Brakes stripped and cleaned with new brake fluid, new battery and genuine Honda regulator/rectifier fitted (new design, finned version so shouldn’t fail again) about 1000miles ago.
Oil & Filter, spark plugs and valves checked at around 34k.
Air filter and front brake pads at around 32k.
Chain & sprockets at around 30k. Still plenty of life in all consumables.
Tyres are Michelin Power 2CT one of the best road tyres money can buy, the grip you get in wet or dry is simply awesome, plenty of tread left.
Engine is smooth like a sewing machine. I tend to give her an oil and filter change every 4000 miles, might seem a bit excessive as the manual states to do it every 8000miles but I always feel that its too long.
She’s been very good to me and I’m going to be very sad to see her go. I’ve covered about 17k since I bought her mid 2008 in all weather and very rarely had any problems with her at all. She’s mega comfy and very economical, commuting I regularly get 150-170 miles before the fuel light comes on with a full tank. I’ve commuted, toured and done a track day on her and she seems to take whatever you throw at her in her stride, even surprised quite a few people riding quicker bikes. Typical 90’s Honda really, with reknown Honda reliability. I’ve actually met 2 people now whilst out on a Sunday ride who have done 140,000 miles on one and 93,000 miles on the other!
Few extras included:
Black rear wheel hugger, essential for keeping most of the road crap off the rear shock. Still have the original chain guard too.
Black double bubble screen fitted but I have the original here too. Got it for the weather protection and seems to work a treat.
Black Renntec sports rack, brill for commuting and to bungee your sandwiches to. This replaces the pillion grab handle but I still have that.
Got a brand new unopened rear pads that I bought as MOT tester told me to keep an eye on it but when I got home and checked they weren’t even halfway worn so bought the rear pads for nothing.
Bsquare magnetic tankbag thrown in as well.
Bike is ready to go and be ridden away. I’m open to reasonable offers but no daft ones please. If you would like to come have a look at the bike then you are welcome. Test rides are also welcome but only as long as you can prove you are insured to do so and I have the full asking price in cash in my hand. Common sense really, break or scratch it and you’ve bought it. |
