I recently changed the tyres on my KTM 990 SM from Pirelli Scorpion Sync to Michelin Pilot Pure as i read a few forums that mentioned the sync got a bit loose when hot.

I was very impressed with the grip i got at knockhill but was not sure if that was down to how grippy the track was compared to the road as it was the first time at knockhill.

Anyway had the bike out on Sunday for the first time since the track day, the roads were a bit damp to start then dried up later on. The tyres heated up very quick and never felt the bike slide and as much as i pushed it into corners the bike felt well planted and gave me lots of confidence.

I've tried various tyres on my bikes and ended up sticking with Corsa 3's for the ZX10R but they never gave me as much confidence as the Pilot Pure. The roads where I live in Ullapool (north west highlands) are great for the bike but road conditions are not great so they chew tyres, i don't see them last me long but for Sunday blasts down to Applecross they are fecking great.

I'm not a great riding far from it and I don't push as hard as i could on the road as i know what can happen, if you are looking for a good sticky tyre i would honestly recommend you give them ago.

My Power Pures are perfect, couldn't ask for a better tyre, now if only my headrace bearings were round still...

They do inspire a lot of confidence, i had the pilot power on the CBR 600 fy that i had a few years ago and never really like them.

I love my Pure's!

I actually swapped from Corsa III's to them, and I much prefer the Pure's, they turn in so much quicker, and have a lot more grip in the wet!

Awesome tyres Thumbs Up

Because it was damp when I left in the morning and after a few minutes just outside of Ullapool i could feel the tyres no movement when leaning into bends. I'm no expert in tyres but the corsa 3s i felt took a bit longer to give you feedback. I tend to stop as there are lots of nice views up here and take a look at the tyres to see how much of the tyre im using, the tyres felt warm on both sides.

The best thing is, they heat up quickly, but they don't get greasy and let go without any sort of warning like the 2CT's do!

Feel just like any other tyre to me...

Dont tip in as well as the old Powers, dont seem to heat up as quickly as a set of Corsa 3's, dont have as much grip in the wet as the Avon Vipers.

Suspension settings make a difference to how each tyre feels.

That could be a factor of why i prefer the power pure of the scorpion as i changed the bike setup for racing.

Eh?

On my bike, they heat up FAR quicker then my Corsa III's?

Like you say though, I put the tyres on, then had my suspension set up again, I didn't like the settings I used for the Corsa III's on the Pure's.

Id say suspension settings make more of a difference to how a bike/tyre feels, than the tyre itself.

I know i keep saying this, but i ran a set of CST Touring tyres ( Chinese ) on my zx6, in winter, on a trackday. They felt just as planted as the set of Corsa's i used previously, but i did change the suspension settings to suit the tyres...
