Lanes around Salisbury

Hi all, a few of us are going to Salisbury (Ebbesbourne Wake to be precise) on October 16th & 17th.

Any of you out there local and fancy joining us for a day or two's riding?

Anyone out there who knows the lanes round that way and can suggest where to ride/avoid?

I encountered MOD plod in a 4x4 this morning on the Plain when I was on my pushbike. I wasn't on a RoW but they seemed unbothered about me and they said "we're not after mountain bikers" which I took to mean that they were after things which engines.

It may just have been coincidental that they were passing on the nearby byway and came to have a closer look to see if I was on something with an engine or MOD plod might be having a bit of a crackdown on dirtbikes & 4x4's playing where they shouldn't be.

Tidworth tank driving course is good fun. It's not a legit RoW but given that the army play with their tanks there, you're not going to be doing noticeable damage to the ground, where as the place I meet plod earlier was a wooded bowl area which was obviously well (ab)used by 4x4s and dirt bikes.
