Well, since you all know by now (and if you don't, then why not?) I'm doing my DAS within the next 2 weeks.....that was the original plan anyway.

I was to go to the riding school this afternoon to have my riding ability assesed, so they could decide what training I would need. I thought a 3 day intensive or something along those lines. But the instructor was the same guy who took my CBT last May. Luckily, he remembered me and put me straight on the Kwak ER-5.....

After a few laps round the school, he said he had seen enough and took me out on the road!!! Wicked!!!

So this actually turned into my first DAS lesson!!! I'm still smiling from riding that bike, I never expected the power difference to be so dramatic. The low down torque is superb (prob s*** compared to CBR600 or something, but this is the biggest bike I've riden). It is soooo much easier to ride than the NSR, I'm not tap-dancing on the gear lever anymore!!!

The instructor says he was impressed for my first lesson (after almost a year on the road) and said I could maybe scrap through now, but some stuff needs refining. I did all my U-turns perfectly which boosted my confidence.

Anyone not done/planning to do DAS soon, book it now. I don't know why I've waited so long!!!

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy <---------- me after riding the 500!

Good stuff! I hadn't ridden a bike for about four years before going to do my CBT/DAS course and doing the CBT on a bigger bike (an ER5 to funnily enough) was a lot easier than on a 125 several years before. Or at least it felt like it, maybe it was my ever expanding waistline and more torque and power to move it around that made it feel easier. Laughing

You've obviously been doing everything right on the 125 for the past year, haven't you? It will pay dividends in the run up to your test I should imagine.

Why did I not do my DAS four years ago Confused Rolling Eyes

I've just done my DAS a few weeks ago after 3 years on an NSR125. The CG I got on first felt horrible, and really made a novice of me where as I immediately felt at home on the ER (and more confident than on the CG).

They're not bad bikes, ok so they're only 500cc 50bhp commuters but thats quick enough and they don't handle appalingly. There are far more ugly bikes about too, and although the brakes don't have much initial bite they are strong enough to lock the front when used in anger.

yeah, I've had the NSR almost a year now, so took to the ER-5 pretty quickly.

Ok, only around 50Bhp, but its the way it delivers it low down in the revs.....

Just given me a taste of what's to come!!!
