Yeah, I had to glue mine back on. Although the local pound shop did a good deal on 12 "one shot" superglue tubes for 99p. Dead handy, I'm always losing new superglue tubes after I've used them once.

I was totally indifferent about it until this morning when I heard something like this on the radio. Now I want him to bugger off back home as soon as possible and to cost as little as possible.

The outline of the rant is good, the content is pure fail.

It all seems so ridiculous, I think we've been conditioned by exposure to Father Ted and Dave Allen sketches.

He got out at some place in Scotland and they had a piece of holy turf on a table because the previous pope visitor had kissed it also.
Dozens of holynesses stood about with funny dress things blowing about in the wind.
I wish it had been torrential rain.

Then he had gone through Edinburgh twice, first time with blacked out windows like the Mafia and about a hundred cars and police bikes.
Then he comes back the other way in his special sealed glass box with Men in Black heavies walking very fast alongside.

All the kids on the pavement were made to wave flags and cheer, otherwise they had to go back to school and writte an essay.

The Telegraph running commentary is throwing up a few wee jems Laughing :

On Rimming:

12.55: James MacMillan, the composer of the Mass for the Pope's visit, says: "I have just met him! I kissed his ring and told him.."Shocked

Getting out his bullet proof Ice Cream Van to touch kids:

13.16: A group of school children have experienced a rare moment when the Pope got out of the Popemobile to greet them by the side of the road. Crying or Very sad

Seems the head of the Church of Scotland was hiding in a broom cupboard while the pope was in Hollyrood:

13.47:"Apalled Cardinal and first minister wondered: 'Where in heaven's name is John Christie?' as waited to meet Pope?

"When poor John Christie discovered languishing in side room, special private audience with the Pope hurriedly arranged."

Laughing

Not to mention the inconvienience it's causing.

My mom and dad live literally 2 mins away from Cofton Park, trouble is they are closing off all the roads immediately around it, and having "restricted areas" surrounding those, I'm not sure how true it is but supposedly people are being told to carry ID on them at all times to prove where they live if they need to use the road to get to their house. I've attached a map detailing it below. You will notice they are restricting the A38 which is a major dual carriageway that is always busy, and any diversion is going to be a right fuck around, particularly if you do not know the area.

My driving licence still has my mom and dads address on it so I might pop down on Sunday to tell some Swiss Guard scum to go fuck himself. The irony being that later on the same day he is moving into Birmingham city centre and is closing off the roads right next to where I live now! What a bastard.

I love the irony of the bulletproof glass as well, I mean, surely if he was God's right hand man, no bullet would make it anywhere near him? Oh that's right, it's all a load of bollocks isn't it, my mistake.

Can't win with you guys.

Endless threads about how angry people are at the percieved national shift towards Islam, complaining about known terrorists being able to preach in London mosques, building mosques in inappropriate places, seeing Sharia courts appear....

And yet when the most powerful man on the planet, and the biggest force against the spread of Islam on the planet, visits our country, you get up in arms over £10m and some disruption to roads nowhere near you so that millions of catholics can see the man.

Religion isn't going to disappear in our lifetimes. A (comparitively) moderate pope has visited and advised us to respect traditional values.

It isn't affecting me, the cost is minimal on the govt balance sheet, it's a boost for Christianity and a bit of a slap for Islam.

I would have thought the protestants were more of a threat then any muslim up here in glasgow anyway

We know how effective glaswegian muslims are at terrorism, think the pope doesn't have too much to worry about on that aspect
