Anyone used one of them before? I have the chance to purchase a boxed unit from a friend who bought it and never used it, costing me £10.

its the same (or looks the same) as the one in the pic below.

Thanks.

Had one a good few years ago!

They're ok, do they job. Nothing on newer chain type rowing machines (concept 2 etc) but for a tenner you can't really go wrong. You'd be able to sell it easily at a car boot for that.

Anything that uses compressing gas for resistance is always a bit crap. It makes things smaller, quieter and cheaper, but the way gas resists compression is very different to the way human muscles deal with resistance. Ideally you want one where the chain / cable spins something that uses air resistance to slow down. Magnetic resistance is okay too.

I say get it, give it a go but expect other rowing machines to be a lot better. If you think it's okay consider getting a better one off gumtree / ebay. The number of exercise things sold unused is actually funny! Laughing

That's not an amazing price as they're not much new, but not bad either.

I do prefer air ones, but those ones are ok and certainly better than spending the money on an air one that doesn't get used!
So, I'd agree with go with this one and see how you feel.

Awesome.

He should be bringing it round sunday. If I had the space and the funds for a concept 2 rower, I'd definitly get one. They go for over £700 used on ebay, which is slightly laughable but they're £1k+ from concepts website. Slightly obscene.

I don't mind spending £10 and it only lasting a few months til I get myself sorted out or decide to upgrade to a better rower. I've used the air and chain rowers before, but never hydraulic ones so wanted peoples opinions before I jumped in and wasted £10 on something useless.

Thanks all Smile

Robert.

You can get cheaper brand 'home' air rowers a lot cheaper - though I wouldn't say no to a Concept 2 Smile.

Anyway, it should 'do' at least for the moment; not totally terrible, but not great.

Yeah, saw them and think I may be purchasing one once I've killed my bargain-basement rower. Just need to figure out where I'm gonna store it.

Bristol is albeit a tad too far and it would mean paying for a tank of fuel for a family/friend to help pick it up.

I shall be looking on gumtree/ebay probably after christmas at a new rower, this one will do until then Smile

I wasn't suggesting you get one from here, more just showing off how easy it is to find unwanted, unused exercise equipment close to any given location Razz
