They interrupted the BBC Radio 4 Long Wave commentary on the one day international from The Oval to broadcast his mass from Westminster.
Ok it is not a test match but some thing are sacred to our being British, this evil ex Nazi is undermining our traditions. I think public execution by being drawn and quartered is to good for him.

I saw him spouting his slander on the tv earlier. In my defense I had turned it on and it was already on the channel, as soon as I realised what it was it went straight off.

There was a rather detailed program on the tv yesterday (possibly bbc four) that talked about his bad points. In particular, a hardline stance on saying no to condoms. The western world ignores this including catholics, but in the developing world, poor people do what their priests say, so no family planning will mean poor stay poor with large families they cant support, aswell as the obvious effects of aids.
They even pretend that condoms dont actually stop the spread of AIDS.

Other bad points are that he is a bit of a purist, old school catholic, and is talking about going back to old school catholic ways, and if that means the catholic church in europe contracts to only those who agree with his ways, he's fine with that.

He also makes it policy to get rid of bishops with different views to him and only appoints ones with similar views to him.

Admittedly the program was biased as it was made by a gay activist, but it was pretty clear the pope is not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy.

All religions are for retards, if they choose to believe everything in it.

The only thing I carry from Catholicism, because I was brought up as one, are the values which I was taught: those of family values, and of treating other people as you would want to be treated. Well sure, there's a heck of a lot of Catholic hierarchy who have forgotten about that one. But look! We have confession, so we can be real bad, and then cleanse our souls. Hoorah, we have the best religion on that front.

I have eschewed most of my religion's beliefs as being fairy stories, and I have examined the power trips of the chiefs and heads of its state as closely as the literature will allow (!!) ... and seen the excessive wealth and abuse of power. But this is no different to your average political party in any other country in the world. And how blindly do the patriots of some of those countries wave their own flags? These are the reasons I do not follow blindly, believe faithfully or attend regularly.

But what I do take from the Catholic faith was the sense of community, which as I grow older, I now miss and would be happy to find myself back in that community, because now (!! NOW !!) I am older and more argumentative, and I wouldn't sit back like I did as an 11-16 year old girl and hang on the every word of whichever priest, nun or monseigneur was trying to convince me I should blindly believe.

I'd argue back, and expect respect for having the brains to do so with some level of intelligence, instead of being looked down upon as someone who can be told (bullied) into handing over ridiculous amounts of cash that I cannot personally afford to support ... what? An institution that tries but fails miserably to convince me that I will get what I deserve in the afterlife.

So what's that, then? A couple of shovels full of earth in my mouth, and be told "You unenviable fool, you really believed what they told you when you were alive?", and stuck in (yeah) Purgatory, or an approximation of, anyway. I'm there already.

I agree with Silky, though. Its a bit rank, Ariel, to criticise, one religion, all the whilst defending that of your neighbours and friends religions, no matter how similarly to Catholicism those religions hold their rank and file "in their place"

(how many virgins is it they get? 27 or 72, I never seem to get the story straight . . . )
