So, my cycle will be arriving in a couple weeks, and I am getting ready! Smile It's not a bicycle (which I know is what this forum is mainly for, but my question below applies to either). Mine is a quad.

Anyway, I have a Timex Ironman GPS watch. It shows distance, speed, and calories burned data (main info I am interested in) as well as other data. I use it currently when walking for exercise daily. However, like I said, my cycle will be here soon, and I wonder if it will work with it. I can see how it would get distance and speed via GPS with no problem. However, how does it calculate calories for bicycle use? Would I have to have something else for it to provide calorie info? I know there are cadence sensor that are for bikes, but is that required for the calorie info? Basically, if it can work without that, I would prefer to have one less thing to worry about the battery being charged on. Every once in a while my watch ends up without a sufficient charge mid-walk as it is. Very Happy

Thanks much in advance for all info.

They often work using a pulse-sensor, so can use that to work out the calories burnt.
If yours uses that, it may well still work.

And yes, this is a motorbike forum.

I always fancied building a pedal powered quadricycle, but a low-steering one, can't see much point in a normal one personally.

Only if you run verys fast to the fridge Thumbs Up

You need to hit 15mph on the GPS before you are allowed to open the can and take a drink.

I think my GPS is watching me, not me watching it. Just came inside for a cuppa before spending a merry hour putting the fairing back on my GSX, having spent that long removing it so I could tighten two bolts holding the headlamp to its bracket Rolling Eyes , when a voice booms out 'left turn ahead', difficult to achieve sat at the kitchen table. Last time I used it was a week ago to find a couple of bike shops around Helsinki, since then it has been switched off on the shelf behind me.

Not the first time it has come to life on its own, either. And no one else has fiddled with it, I have been all alone in the house all week, wife's in England.

Within a week of your wife leaving you, you are hearing voices. I'm not surprised she left Wink
