The tax on my Z runs out at the end of the month and I can't see any more good biking days this year and I'm skint so I've sorned it.

I had high hopes for this year, but yet again my biking enjoyment has been ruined by the weather. Sure there have been some great days and I have done nearly 7000 miles, but most of my miles have been my lunch time rides.

But July/August when I had planned to take time off and really use my bike, the weather was atrocious.

So it felt a bit weird, cleaning the old girl, taking the battery out, baging the exhaust and putting her away.

Perhaps i'm wrong, perhaps October will be fantastic, in that case i'll tax her. I just sort of feel cheated this year. My wife working every evening also hasn't helped (No evening rides out).

Before anyone posts, I do have another bike that I do ride throughout the year. But I can't see much enjoyment now, apart from the pain of the cold.

Winter's certainly on the way. Time for the textiles.

The weather and unemployment cheated me out of my little mini-tour this year Sad .
Oh well! lots of time to save up, ready for next year!

hope to find a few last days of good weather for one or two last rides out.

There's still biking days to be had. Thumbs Up

Although they always seem to be when I'm on afternoons. Laughing

I've seen lots of moaning, but for me the weather has been pretty good.
Pretty much every event I've been to at a weekend this year - and have been busy most of them with something or other, it's been at worst 'acceptable'.
Glastonbury was actualyl ridiculously hot, too much so! Had a few bits of rain, but been lucky enough to be doing muddy stuff at the time and it's had a nice cooling effect and usually petered out.

Very happy with the weather this year - snow fun, then an excellent spring/summer for me!

Oh and as Joe suggests, winter means softer mud to fall in!

This. We live in the British Isles, the weather's never going to be perfect. I've done loads of trackdays this year and only one has rained all day, most have been sunny all day. Usually I'm the bringer of rain when I do trackdays, so this year gets a thumbs up for me.

I think this year has been quite good. I gauge my years on how wet I get on the way in and out of work, this year I have been pretty dry. Thumbs Up

Ahh winter is well on its way and for us full timers it means donning the textiles and neck warmers and heading out on the cold crisp sunny days that winter provides. While the summer softies hibernate their bikes and drive around in cages all winter the rest of us look forward to open and empty roads to hone our skills ready for the return of the summer flock.

yes the temp certainly is dropping now, even on those sunny days which seem to come and go as they please. i cant put the bike away for the winter, its my sole means on transport. might get a nice 4-500 quid winter hack save me tarnishing my beauty. anyone got any ideas for a winter hack that can be had for peanuts?

as others have said i see loads of moaning but as far as im concerned this years been fine. certainly a hell of a lot better than the last 2 years.

plenty of sunshine, plenty of blasts, all my trackdays have been under beautiful blue sky (although on my last one it pissed it down just as we'd packed up - so no bother there either, heh)

praying it'll be ok for mallory this friday. have cooked my road tyres and i dont have any wets :/

GS500/CB500 can usually be had for a couple of bob.

I dont know. There is something really invigorating about the riding around on a sunny winter day. The daylight seems lighter without being dazzlingly bright and although its cold you dont feel it too much all wrapped up in gloves and textiles.

Its great!

i know what you mean about winter sun. it makes for a really fresh ride. really wakes you up Thumbs Up Razz

yeh i was thinking one of the many twin 500's maybe even a cheap bros 650 if one can be had. they will start appearing in the next couple of months for cheap no doubt. esp in december first couple of weeks for christmas money etc. ive heard that cb500 is probably the best of the bunch, i spent a couple of days on the kwak didnt like the riding position at all, painful bollocks. ill have a look at the gs500.

anymore for anymore?

You forgot one really good thing, no 'king insects. Cleaning a ton of splattered bug crap off the lid/visor and bright yellow bike is the bane of Summer.

The early part of the Spring/Summer was great, so you take the rough with the smooth. Want good weather for July/August? Go touring in Spain or the South of France.

I find that we get some very nice days in winter. They may start of crisp (cool) but they turn out nice and there is less traffic on them Thumbs Up
