|
I turned 17 at the end of August, and passed my test just over a week ago. I have been riding for a just over a year though.
Now, i have a 98 yamaha fazer 600, not the perfect trackday bike i know, but i fancy getting into it all to help improve my riding. However, i really dont know what all the rules and regualtions say, and what i need etc.
can someone post up a link to a guide to starting out? what all the sessions meen etc. there is quite alot to sort out for a newbie so some help would be much apreciated . |

Hi 010dom010:
Your fazer will be just fine on track for the meantime. Use it to learn cornering technique and don't be embarassed to ask for advice from the better riders/instructors in the paddock. You couldn't pick a better way to learn how to handle a bike properly. Tracktime doesn't replace road-craft, but it enhances it enormously.
Re. the leathers, be careful. You need good quality stuff on the circuit, cos you could have a pretty high speed 'off' one day. These might be fine, but I've never heard of them or seen this make in the paddock. You'll probably be better off finding an underused second hand pair of quality leathers on ebay (that cost the first owner £400 plus) and buying those. But go and try them on first if poss.
There are many 'how to start out on track' features on various web sites, so take your pick, but if you want to read one I wrote go to:
www.bikeclubfrance.com
and look in the forum, under 'Trackday Section'. 'Everything you wanted to know about trackdays'
Best of Luck. It's great to see a youngster setting out on track - there aren't nearly enough of you doing it.
