I am looking for a mouse (the computer kind) and dont know what the name of the thing is.

I am basically looking for one of those mice which do not move, but have a large ball on the top of it that you roll your finger over to move the pointer on the screen.

When you type in stuff like 'ball mouse', etc all that seems to come up is that older (non optical variety) mice; or replacement balls for inside them.

There is 1 of them in work, but I cannot steal it as the risk is too high. Rolling Eyes

Anyone know what they are called and where to buy them as well (cheaply).

Thanks. Thumbs Up

Cheers for that.

£110 !!! Well, I certainly wont be getting that one.

Will keep searching for 1 nearer the £10 mark - as it is not too urgent.

Thanks again.

Its funny that because all of my bosses use trackballs for some reason... everyboss I've known...

That along with the USB number pad.

https://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=USB+numberpad&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&cid=3459476675070414214&ei=_36XTJDKLZHCigTPr9mfCw&sa=title&ved=0CA0Q8wIwATgA#p

I've got about 12 of those things.

I think Bendy uses a trackball. I think they are supposed to be better for RSI than a traditional mouse.

Been using these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-904368-0914-Marble-Mouse/dp/B00005QKHF - for years. Never liked the thumb-operated trackballs, but the marble mouse is good.

Our lawyer did say it looked like I was fondling the computer's poonani though. Confused

I love my trackball. Microsoft one with the ball on the left. You just lay your hand on it and twiddle the ball with your thumb Shocked Embarassed Laughing Makes life so much easier as you don't need a big area to work in.
Yes, I know you can keep lifting the mouse, but thats a real pain.

Plus I find its a lot easier on the wrist Thumbs Up

I've found trackballs nice for general use, but fire up anything resembling a FPS and give me an optical mouse any day.

The first time you said it I found it surprising. But by your second post I was less taken aback

Haha. Win.

I don't like them, have used them at a previous job as that's all they had apart from really old ball-mice (they all had 3 click buttons on the top!).

You weirdo's who like the trackball+usb number pad should just get one of these...

I hate trackerball mouses/mice.

When I worked at the Tax Office we had to hotdesk and I would occasionally end up with the persons desk who had the chair I wasn't allowed to adjust and the trackerball mouse. This meant I had to find a new chair and also unplug and hunt out a normal mouse.

Weird, weird people use trackerball mice, be warned gazz people will look at you differently. Shocked

I have this one at home, but I hate using it, only my parents like it.
They do say it is better for your wrist though, but try to play counter strike with that shit Laughing

They are shit for gaming, yes. Not great for trying to draw with either, but I've got a tablet for the rare occasions I do that.

But the wrist thing is very true, in my experience. I started using one cos I had RSI and found that moving a mouse around (admittedly on a shit desk with no elbow support) meant I was holding my whole arm up the majority of the time, which was giving me pain in my right shoulder. Cos the trackball doesn't need to move, you can rest you arm on the desk better and relieve the strain on your neck and shoulder (we're talking sad nerd, 30+ hours straight in front of the computer, far too much IRC, 56kbps modems, jumpers for goalposts stuff here!).

Thumb trackballs are for perverts though.

I've got a logitech marble optical thing you use with your thumb, which is a bit like the one bendy posted a pic of, but the ball is to the side and you use your thumb.

It's very relaxing for web browsing. I used to work with someone who used one at work, and I used to think lucky her for having a job where she could work so slowly that it was fine for work.

By contrast, I brought in a gaming mouse, so I could get more stuff done faster.

If anyone would like a mouse, I am happy to post them one free of charge. I currently have two, which I have just removed from the traps at the back of my roof, a job I have to do twice a week in the autumn every year.

One is a little decomposed, the other was running around over my head last night until there was a dull thump and no more pitter patter.
