OK so I bought a 125 without a log book then got it home to discover there is no tax on it.
is it possible to tax with no v5? I know I can apply for a V5 using a V62 form but I cant ride the bike for 6 weeks then until the log book comes back so I can tax it

any one have any ideas?

Take the small bit, new keeper, you got to the post office and use that.
If you got nothing then start praying its a legit bike......

You could try a local DVLA office and see if it can be done any quicker that way.

Online will send tax to the previous owner. It will need to be insured. If the previous owner did not have it insured, it can take upto 14 days to register on the system. Won't allow tax, without ins.

Best idea would have had the previous owner tax it for you and you pay them.

As I said if you have a local DVLA office you might get it sorted quicker. Other than that its a case of waiting. Unless the old owner is someone who is prepared to tax it online for you and send the disk onto you.

You need the ref number off the V5 to tax online.

Try ringing the Leeds office and see what advice they give... 2nd thoughts ring the main DVLA. I got crap advice from the staff at Leeds when I moved and had to trade my old paper licence for a photo one... They said I did not need proof of id..... Yep, you guessed it came straight back with a request for birth cert.... Twisted Evil

The Leeds office is not in the center of leeds or a very good place to get to by public transport either Rolling Eyes
