Still planning to build that anti-flip killswitch thingy? That would work pretty well I think.

Alternatively, buy a big v-twin. No matter how vertical you get there's always enough engine braking to save it. My storm still hasn't worn half way through the original rear brake pads Smile

Okay, next time i deliver pizzas in the rain, i'll stick one of those helmet cams on my helmet (funnily enough) and see what i can do for you. Crashing doesn't seem to get me into trouble Laughing it's just embarrasing (so far i've been lucky enough to escape injury).

I dunno how much it would help... I'm pretty sure I had shut off the throttle, but the momentum of the initial acceleration kept it going (though killing in the engine probably would have helped).

Could maybe link it to the rear brake in some way?.. ie get another mater cylinder and connect it up via a longish hose, you'd only need a gentle tap so it wouldn't have to be that sophisticated... but would have to make sure it wasn't too strong either.

Probably best to just learn rear brake control, 'cos it's usefull for higher slower wheelies anyway.

I'm sure my 9 has plenty of engine braking... though I have been kinda tempted by a TL-S in the past Smile.

Heh, nice one G.

Like the standing on the bike once you came off... classy.

And, well done Luke, for parking up and giving said wobbly wheel a bit of a kicking Razz.

G,
I think that the rear brake is an oft underused comodity on bikes. I have this habit that if I think 'oshit' like in a corner or whatever, I tense up my foot and the rear brake comes on. This is certainly better than tensing up your arms!
It might be a bit of a bad habit, but it seems to have saved my leather clad arse once or twice.

Dunno if it applies to wheelies though!

i used nothing but the rear brake on the bros when i first got it, cos it hurt my hand to use teh front

seems to allow quite a bit of pressure before it locks, and the front brake is shite as well

never used it on r6 cos the front always took all the weight off the back, damn good brakes

and cbr the lever was too high and i never bothered to adjust it

If I rememer I did similar things a few times, it's when you're in the wet on a cg that you decide it's a bad thing Smile.
Definitely a god thing for wheelies though Smile.

My Triumph rear brake is poo, but I don't mash it on.
Its just a subtle thing, It probably just gives me the confidence to get round corners really.
When doing a wheelie however (If I could do one!), I would imagine that I am more likely to REALLY go 'ohshit' and actually have enough effect to overcome a wheelie.
I do have a fix for my rear brake, that I have yet to fit, that will apparently make it a million times better.
I think I'll wait until the summer to fit it though! Smile

anyway, hope you get the RD sorted.
Remember, its not got a broken clutch lever, its just an added 'feature'! Very Happy

Maybe one of these contraptions is in order then:

A little obvious on a road bike... and looks like I was getting it a bit higher than that would let you go anyway Confused

I occasinally think of getting an old blade at some point in the future when it'd be a reasonable proposition... considered one of the best learn to stunt on bikes. Then I realise I have a zx9 that's pretty ideal for such things.

Just need to sort out the gearbox... and there's a subframe on ebay at the moment Smile.
