Anyone seen the Robin Hood Film directed by Ridley Scot?

Thought the film was great, I dont think Ridley Scot knows how to make a shit film!

interesting if he had directed The Lord of the Rings and the up and coming The Hobbit film instead of Peter Jackson?

Great movie.

Gladiator by R. Scott is a masterpiece. Very Happy

Just watched half of it, maybe watch the other half tonight (after the Leeds game of course), since you posted this topic.

On a side note, I cannot fucking stand that Cate Blanchett. Every time I see a movie with her in it I constantly think 'how fucking ugly is this woman?!?!?!'. Surely being an actress, you are meant to look good - or at least half decent- but for me she wastes films because she is so ugly (in my opinion).
OK, some ugly woman can still be actresses; I am not going to dispute this fact, but surely they are typecast to play 'UGLY WOMAN #3' or whatever.
I really dont see how she is even considered to being the eye candy is some of the movies she has played !
Some of which jump to mind are The Aviator, Benjamin Button and of course Robin Hood.
I just dont know what people see in her.

It passed the time but I HATE Russell Crowe. Some very dodgy accents, wooden dialogue, pretty bland action scenes and seemed like a bit of a typical ye olde time battle / action flick in general... I think Gladiator set the bar quite high for that genre (didn't even mind Crowe in it) and this falls very short.

I have got the directors cut on the DVD and it is good, get to see a couple more bits to the story that was missed out in the cinema. I enjoyed the film hence the DVD. Thumbs Up

I watched it recently.

It seemed to me to be Braveheart for the English, essentially a load of overblown pish.

I couldn't get in to it at all. I can't really remember anything about it either tbh. Disappointed is how it left me, which is a shame as I was looking forward to it. Smile

I agreed with that until I saw bandits. I thought she was very fit in that. Also in Pushing Tin.

Well in the Aviator she does look like Kate Hepburn, which is the idea. However, Kate Beckinsale as Ava Gardner.... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

... Sorry, zoned out for a moment there... what was I saying?

I watched it at the cinema and thought it was okay. Then a couple of days later I looked back on it as one of the most unremarkable and forgettable films I've seen in a long time.

Scott is a great director though, in general.

Crowe's accent is terrible!

I kind of know where you're going with this. Women don't have to be stunning (that'd be unrealistic), but you expect the main love interest to be fit. She isn't, at all.

From what i've heard, the new one isn't really what people expect from a Robin hood film. Something about lack of bows & arrow & a more serious approach.

I liked the Costner one. Laughing

It doesn't have Alan Rickman. 'Nuff said.
