Ive tried log into PSN but im having no luck - telling me ive entered my password in wrong.. WTF!? its ment to be on automatic sign in anyways...

So ive made a backup pro and tried to recover the account but its coming up with "An Error Has Occurred. (80023017)"

Ive also tried to make another account but its giving me the same message..

So im wandering had it happened to everyone or is it just me

Did you just update to the 2.50 firmware?

This could also be your problem (regarding the blank password issue)

Looks like Sony have yet again rushed and fucked up a new firmware release.

The latest update was 3.5.

And it wasn't a fuck up at all, PSN was down yesterday for scheduled maintenance. Came back on around 9pm last night.

My bad, 3.50 is what I meant.

3.50 has been causing problems for a lot of people 'cause its removed their passwords meaning they have had to go through the password recovery process. However I haven't updated as I'm keeping my FW to 3.41 so it doesnt bother me. Laughing

Anyways, I tend to wait a couple of days after a new FW is released as in the past Sony has released new FW only to pull it a short while later.

I updated about 11pm last night and have had no issues.

The incorrect password error message was a result of the PSN servers being down for maintenance, not because of the update, as there were no server online to validate log in credentials.

The way I see it is if people have now goofed because they can't remember what their account password is, thats their own fault and not the updates. They should have just been patient, or at least searched teh webz to see if anyone else had reported similar issues.

My mates had the same problem directly after the update, however as soon as the servers came back online it worked straight away with no issues.

The update itself was entirely pointless to me anyway as it just adds 3d Bluray playback functionality, which I cant use.

Also you say you're holding off on the update, are you still able to connect to PSN? I was always under the impression that if you didn't update it wouldn't sign you in?

No, I'm not able to connect to PSN but thats not a problem for me as I'm not a fan of it. iPlayer and Internet browser still function though.

Ah ok, I mainly use mine for psn so I have to update. No plans on jailbreaking my PS3 though so its no real issue for me.
