On ebay you can get 2 stroke engines that you can fit to a bicycle.

Has anyone on here bought one ?

What was it like to fit ?

What was it like to use ?

I'm aware its probably illegal to use them on the road, but I'm ignoring that. Either because I'd use it offroad, or I'd ignore the law and hope not to get caught.

eBay link for anyone interested in seeing what's being talked about.

I don't really believe any of the customer testimonials cos they all read like they were written by a salesman. Razz

It is illegal to use them on the roads, the auction page says that at the bottom. Wink

If anyone is interested in one then there are bigger pictures on their website. www.transformercycles.com

There is no point - pretty sure it would be faster to just be fitter, which would be both cheaper and more rewarding.

It may be rewarding to be fitter, but there is no way that a bike with an engine is slower than pedalling.

Where I live there are a lot of hills, and also, I fancy being on a biycle but with a bit more speed.

Since motorbikes, biycles just seem to slow.

I don't think that a cheapo engine bolted to a pushbike isn't going to be much faster than pedaling. Once you add in getting stopped by plod then pedaling would definitely be faster. Wink

Get a Sachs Madass instead of fixing an engine to a pushbike. Thumbs Up

we get the motrax engine kits here in nz,
they are exactly the same, also shifter kits, so the engine uses your gears on the bikes instead of direct to the rear wheel

to be fair, they arn't too bad, about a 30 min set up time,
the engine is a very basic piston port engine, with no expansion chamber, and a extremly basic carb,
fitting is pretty basic with fairly crappy clamp fittings, which you really only want to use on steel tube frames,
top speed is about 35mph on the engine alone but add some pedal poser and you can get a bit quicker,
fairly reliable, we pay $220 nzd for them, so 170quid is a little on the jhigh side price wise

thanks

Particularly interesting that you can pedal to add a bit extra to the engine. This would be particularly good for hills I reckon.

Normally, I probably cycle at 15-20 mph, so 35 is quite a bit faster, so sounds good Thumbs Up

They were generally a chainsaw engine with a pop bottle fuel tank. So they were loud, slow and just a bit of fun.
