Has anyone used any of the 'Cash for Clothes' companies?
Clearing out the loft and thought I'd try and make a few quid from my hoardings!

If they're anything like the ''Cash for Gold'' companies then you are more likely to receive pennies rather than quids for your treasures.
I suggest that you give your hard won items away to friends or local good causes. You wont receive any monetary gain but you will feel better for it.

Not sure I'll feel much better for giving my friends old £3 asda jeans and the like, similarly not sure 'good causes' will find them massively useful.
However, in total I can gather a reasonable weight in kg, for the 40p-50p a kg they pay.

It would take a while to photograph every item, but maybe put the good items on ebay with a low starting price.

A charity shop would take them, then probably throw out the majority.

If I'm going to spend the time doing that, it'd be much more worth my while doing it with the large amount of bikes bits I keep meaning to sell, sitting in the garage and my lock up!

That's partly why they are in the loft - but I've got plenty as it is and they're just taking up space.
Including some that aren't mine left in the loft, I reckon maybe fifteen to twenty bin bags full!

Put an ad on gumtree as a job lot, there will be people who'll give you an insulting price but will take the time and effort to sell them on for more money.

There is a bloke down the library who does this with books, he comes with one of those granny trollies and buys up everything the library is selling and sticks them on ebay.

The library is insane though as it sells last years stock of books and buys exactly the SAME titles again the year after, they are on their 4th copy of 1421!

Lead is worth around £1300 per ton so you would loose out a bit if you did that. Laughing
