Hey.

I am looking at getting new chain and sprockets for my Derbi Senda 50 2006 as they are past it to say the least haha. Basically after any good/bad comments on AFAM themselves and specifically how they are on a Derbi Senda. The chain isnt shown in the picture but would it be gold as it says they can do blue, red or green. My bike is blue but IMO I think it would be a bit over the top if I was to get a blue chain...

Also, was wondering if Renthal made any chain/sprocket combos for my bike. If not, any other big companies?

Thankyou for any comments in advance Thumbs Up

With the 'epic' amount of power put out by a 50cc I wouldn't worry too much about what brand of chain and sprockets you use, so long as it isn't some chinese piece of crap that is.

Coloured chains are extremely gay though, get a plain one for cheapness or a gold one if you want a bit of bling.

Yeah I've heard of them, never read a review or anything though. If you want to be sure, get a DID chain, they are generally accepted as one of the best.

+1 DID. Avoid IRIS. Even my puny 125 managed to snap a well maintained and adjusted IRIS chain... there are many other accounts of them snapping on other bikes as well. Pure shit. Thumbs Up

Like this? I feel as though they are calling a double bluff though. "not a grey import" haha

Its also a good £20 cheaper and I have read one review on the AFAM and they seem good. BSB use them. I have also read on their aictions they have a review of the company. It says they have over 30 years of experience so thats a bonus. Not too sure about this gold chain malarky though.

Thanks gents.

Err,

just buy any chain ffs! I echo neil martin's comments about avoiding IRIS. Had them on the blade and ZX6R put on by previous owners and they managed to get multiple stiff links within 8k miles. This was WITH proper lubrication and maintenance.

Brands to look out for

-DID
-Tsukaki
- AFAK
- RK
- Regina
- Talon
- Renthal (they mostly do sprockets but also do chains... b&c express bundle them with tsubaki chains)

Any of the aforementioned O ring chains will probably outlast your bike so you'll be fine.

it's ONLY a 50 so the engine's not going to totally overwhelm the transmission unlike a torquey twin or big bore bike.

Thankyou very much. Only brands I can seem to find for my bike are AFAM and 'DID' but as I have mentioned above, it doesn't seem right :/

Spoken to B&S and the only one they do for my bike is a 13-52 set. Will 1 tooth down on the rear do much to performance? Personally I would like to keep it stock but this clearly isn't. Should I buy the DID in the link above (please someone look ]: ) or just buy the renthal/tsubaki combo?

Really could do with some advice here as looking at getting it tonight so whoever it is can post tomorrow as I was planning on sticking it on this weekend.

Thanks Thumbs Up

Hi

1 tooth on the rear is going to make very little difference (might add 1mph if you are lucky).

Both DID and Tsubaki chains are fine. Not sure why you want Renthal sprockets (nothing wrong with them just extra money).

All the best

Keith

In theory it'll make the bike a little faster at the top end but if the engine doesn't have the power to get the bike to that speed, then it will actually make the bike have a slower top end and accelerate slower too.

With a 52 13 gear your back wheel goes round once to every 4 revs of the engine.
With a 53 13 its once to every 4.07 rpm. So give or take about 1% different. I.E not worth worrying about.

Since it's a 50 I assume you won't be keeping it more than a year at most, you don't need to worry about renthal bollocks, just get a cheap one. Have you checked how much OEM is?

Are you planning on doing over 10'000 miles on the bike? If not, I wouldn't be worrying too much about all this, especially on such a low powered engine, that chain+sprocket set will be fine. Just keep the chain properly adjusted, cleaned and lubed.
