Does anyone use one when they're on their bike?

I'm looking into them as I like the idea of not having to stop riding to have a drink.

Yeah I've used one. They are handy, as you dont have to take off your helmet. I wouldnt try to drink while riding though. I'd still stop.

A lot easier to drink from than anything else.

I've used one in a small backpack, and even from a bum bag.

Not used one on a bike, but have while doing ahem marathon training:p my friend bought a cheap one for his motorbike rides and it broke in his bag! Get a proper branded one for starters! You should really only use water in it, and let it dry when not in use. I that suits you then it's good stuff.

I use one of those tricky things called a can of pop. Use one when I stop for fuel. Thumbs Up

Bought one for my son a few months ago, and I'd go along with what MinhDinh suggested... Get a decent / branded one because they tend to be more robust, and easier to use and clean

The backpack I bought for my son came from a local Army Surplus store. He's used it regularly to go to and from school on his mountainbike, and I've used it a couple of times on long rideouts. Thumbs Up

For the trail/offroad riding I have a Kriega one, but I don't use one when road riding. Not sure why, but think it's because with the road riding I tend to stop at a shop/fuel station, so haven't needed to carry drink. I don't tend to get quite as thirsty on the road as on the trails. My trail riding does tend to be more physical, so perhaps that's the reason, but I suspect it's more to do with habit!

An old bicycle inner tube cut so its like a long tube running down your trouser leg works.

The two problems are you have to have compatible fittings at the top and you have to stand up Laughing

Superglue would be effective!! Thumbs Up although it obviously presents an alternative set of issues if you actually used it?! Wink

You probably shouldn't drink from that.

I usede one daily on my tour.

If you're riding all day in summer, you get really dehydrated. You still sweat but it all evaporates so you don't notice. Your concentration levels really go downhill as you start to dehydrate.

I was getting off the bike at the end of the first few days resembling a prune so I made myself a rule that I had to have drunk the whole camelback (just a small one, 1.5 litres) by the time I camped up.

I probably went a little overboard getting a 3L one, but better to be a little on the large side and not drink it all, I guess I don't always have to fill it to the top. I do like my water though.
