Just bought a Scorpion can + link pipe off eBay, it has come off the same make/model/size bike so should be a straight swap.

https://i.ebayimg.com/17/!B3S62tgB2k~$(KGrHqYOKjQEyT+JrE!(BMlqkhFs8Q~~_12.JPG

I was just wondering if I would need to replace the exhaust gaskets too? And does anyone have a 'how to' replace on this kind of bike? Rolling Eyes

Thanks

It's just a slip on so it's very easy to install, unbolt the old one and bolt on the new in the same place.

There might be a gasket of a sort around the end of the downpipes, see if yours fits ok with the old one in place, start it up and check for leaks. If it leaks consider replacing the gasket, if not then just ride it.

It's too simple for a HowTo Thumbs Up .

Yeah there's a gasket between the end of your link pipe and the end of the downpipes. like Donny said, use the old one and if it sounds OK then don't worry about it Thumbs Up

Thanks guys, apparently you need to take the seat + side panels off, shouldn't be hard!

If I need to buy a new gasket, where would you be able to get one from? (i.e. halfords). You can get them online but I don't want to wait for postage

Halfords wont have them, you'd need to find a Honda dealer or buy online. My scorpion can goes on without a gasket, see if it'll fit without one before you order anything.

Ok thanks, How will I know if it needs a gasket or not? Never fit one before so haven't got a clue what to expect...

Basically if it is snug and tight without a gasket it doesn't need one, if it is loose and there is a few mm gap then it does.

Try it with the old gasket in place first as they generally get destroyed if you try and remove them. If it fits with the gasket in place then leave it be,bolt it up and go ride it, if it doesn't go round the pipe with the gasket in place then remove it and fit the pipe without one. If you damage the gasket but it is required then buy a new one.

Right, it makes more sense now.

Am I right in thinking that the link pipe is a smaller diameter than the rest of the exhaust that's on my bike? Meaning the gasket would go over the link pipe before going in the exhaust?

But if I have a wider link pipe than whats currently on it wouldn't need a gasket?

Just trying to imagine it!

Close but the other way round, the link pipe is wider than the downpipe end, so if it is much wider (like the original) you need a gasket, if it is not much wider (narrower than the original) and it fits snug you don't. If it is not much wider but doesn't have room for a gasket then some exhaust paste/silicone will be needed but that isn't really an issue yet. It's just a case of nipping down halfords if the exhaust is leaking from the join and buying some exhaust assembly paste.
