 |
|
Got a smashed headlight glass lens on my WR250F (big stone got flicked up and smashed it).
The actual backing/housing/reflector bit is fine. I have taken the remaining glass out and I was thinking of just getting a bit of perspex to make a new lens and attaching it via silicone.
It only needs to be about the size of an open hand, I can see where I can get BIG sheets from, but I only want a little bit.
Any ideas where I can get a little bit from or indeed what has a small bit of perspex in it that I can buy and then chop up.
Finally, this is obviously a headlight (inly 35w mind you) so there will be heat - how is perspex with heat?!?!

Go to a galzing firm they should be able to provide you with a piece the size you want.
Also some DIY shops should cut to size ____________________ Suzuki GSF600 K3 (in the fastest colour, black). |

Heat may be a problem - watch for bubbling/melting in front of the bulb.
Also, perspex picks up scratches and fogging really quickly.
Can you get a local glass place to cut you a bit of glass instead? Then on with the silicone ____________________ Honda Varadero 125cc => Suzuki Bandit 650 33bhp => 77bhp =>

Just so you know, I got some 6mm stuff from eBay and have now made a new lens and stuck it on.
The basic idea was remove all glass, cut a bit of perspex to the appropriate size, then 'glue' and 'seal' it in place with silicone sealant ...
Which I did, and to give it a bit more security, I wrapped some electrical tape round there too ... and here is the finished product - jobs a good-en!! ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |
