I'm no H&S Nazi, but surely 30+ people standing at the side of a major junction waving their hands in the air and throwing holy water on the tarmac is pretty distracting and could cause an accident... Confused

The single most scary experience I have ever had in a car was in the passenger seat of a left hand drive VW polo while it was being driven through Edinburgh town centre by an Irish Christian fundamentalist who learned to drive at a missionary station in Kenya.

It was at the point when we were heading towards Sherrifhall roundabout at speed and he took both hands off the wheel, clasped them in front of him, closed his eyes (I shit you not) and said "Dear lord, help me to negotiate this roundabout safely and watch over us until we reach our destination.".

He was quite literally of the oppinion that Jesus was watching over him and providing he was faithfull, he would arrive safely. If he crashed, it was because he wasn't faithful enough. As such he took no responsability at all for avoiding accidents because if it was the will of god that he died in an horrific car wreck, taking his four passengers with him, who was he to question it.

Never, ever again. I'd rather walk.

A mate of my Dads is similar. He takes his little inflatable boat out on the sea in totally inappropriate weather. To my knowledge, he's been rescued by the lifeboat three times. He'd do it again tomorrow because he firmly and totally believes that god sent them to rescue him.

If you meet someone like this, keep well out of their way, they take no personal responsability for their own actions and are a danger to themselves and everyone around them.

The RNLI is proof in itself that god is there to save us, it proves he provides for each and every one of us my the very giving way they serve fellow man

Or it tells us that it's a load of old bollocks and there are just some very decent giving people who go out to save some very unlucky and some very stupid people from themselves

I'd rather believe in Blogg than God if I were to get in trouble at sea.
