I learnt the hard way about Lacquers
Sprayed up my tank and was all pleased with the result I had got.
I put the tank back on the bike once the tank had dried.
Next day I filled the tank and in the process, I had a little spillage .
My nice shiney tank all bubbled up and wrinkled .
So the lesson is, VERY VERY light sanding with VERY fine wet & dry between coats.
Always use petrol resistant lacquers to finish off.
You are never going to get a factory finish from rattle cans, but you can get a decent finish if you take it nice and slow .
I found that a good few thin coats was better that trying to apply one thick coat. ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |
