How does this stuff work then.

Basically

sand down, etc.
primer
colour
lacquer
petrol proof lacquer?

Any particular ways to do this? I know what im doing, but last time i did it petrol completely ruined the lacquer. Maybe I didnt let it dry long enough.

anyone used the halfords paint on tanks before?

This is a sore point for me! Crying or Very sad I bought my bike and maybe the lacquer has worn off but I splashed some U/L petrol on the tank and it's bubbled/marked the paintwork!! B*stards!! Evil or Very Mad

I learnt the hard way about Lacquers Evil or Very Mad

Sprayed up my tank and was all pleased with the result I had got.
I put the tank back on the bike once the tank had dried.
Next day I filled the tank and in the process, I had a little spillage Shocked Evil or Very Mad Shocked Twisted Evil .
My nice shiney tank all bubbled up and wrinkled Crying or Very sad .

So the lesson is, VERY VERY light sanding with VERY fine wet & dry between coats.
Always use petrol resistant lacquers to finish off.
You are never going to get a factory finish from rattle cans, but you can get a decent finish if you take it nice and slow Thumbs Up .

I found that a good few thin coats was better that trying to apply one thick coat.
