Has anyone had any experience with the Arai warranty?

One of the vents on my Viper GT has lost its click, I've reported it to the dealer who is contacting Arai.

Does anyone know what they are likely to do? Will they want the lid back to repair it or will they just swap it out for a new one?

I've only had it a little over a year.

Thanks

J

Iirc the dealer sends the helmet bk to Arai to be fixed. You should be given another used helmet whilst yours is being fixed. This happened in the store i worked at. Hth.

Is it the vent on the chin?

My Chaser has done this, bloody rubbish Arai build quality, the side pod's have broken a few times as well. I won't be buying another Arai Neutral

I have a Condor, the vent on the top split so the dealer took it back and sent it to Arai. A week it was returned to me with a complementry dark visor Thumbs Up

I was offered a loan lid but I had my own spare.

Hubby had a similar problem with the vent on the top of his Arai but waited till the NEC show to get it looked at by the Arai chaps in attendance and found them fab. He got the vent replaced, had some paint chips filled in, got it serviced thoroughly and was given some replacement cheek pads when he asked them to check the fitting as it had felt a bit loose.

Did I mention it was for free and there was no request for proof of purchase etc?

Then I wandered passed the Schuberth stand thinking I might get some similar service for mine given that they're owned by BMW (I think) and was disgusted to see a huge list of prices, including one for servicing Rolling Eyes The lady on there was so helpful...she happily pointed out that the C3 was waaay better than my newly purchased C2 Middle Finger

Interesting reading - The chin/mouth vent on my condor has started to move around on one side so will be getting taken back to HG when i can be assed. Cant see how it can be easily repaired as it is behind the foamy stuff which directs air to the front of the visor so will probably need to be sent off. Only got it at xmas. My previous lid, an HJC CS-R1 was still going strong with no complaints other than general tattiness after best part of 2 years when i replaced it with this. Shows you maybe dont always get what you pay for!

I wouldn't put my bonce in another product from Arai.

The build quality doesn't reflect the exorbitant price.

HJC or Shark will do me.

My next hat will be another Shoei best lid I ever had.

I have had two hats recently both over 500 quid.
Both let in water through the vizor.
Both returned to the shop for adjustment.
Both still spray water.

Shite. Evil or Very Mad

I have a condor and the chin vent just pops off, only held on by a couple of clips just pull it up towards the visor.

+ 1 .. not only are they outrageously expensive and the after-market visors are a rip-off, it really is a piss-take when you have to shell out another 20 notes for a new set of side-pods when they break as you're changing the visor... HJC for me in future, think interior is better quality and doesn't break down and get loose as much as the Arai... fine if your a GP star and you get a free lid every couple of races Confused

I broke a sidepod on my Arai within a year of buying it if I remember right, a few trained staff from different shops mentioned that some cleaners (Particularly the autoglym stuff) don't play so nice with the plastic fittings and glue they use. Whilst I'm not sure how true that actually is, I've gone with it and it's worked for 2 and a bit years for me.

My New Arai was on the start line of my first practice run of the season when it broke the visor mount. It was a few seconds old and HG told me it was fuel damage............ Fuel damage! it was brand new and was made to be in an environment where there may be fuel. HG are never ever getting another penny from me and I advise others to never touch them.

Well just given it a bash and i cannot get mine to come off with a good amount of force. Only one side is loose and able to move up and down - other side is solid.

Thats pretty terrible customer service! I have had to take a couple of things back to my local branch before and they have never given me any bother so hopefully they will be as helpful this time too. That said there does seem to be about a 50/50 split between helpful, friendly staff and sour faced, retarded attitudes in there so will have to cross my fingers i guess!
