...big daddy in the GFX market nowadays?

Last PC I built was 5 years ago, and nVidia were still king. Who calls the shots nowadays in 'real world*' use?

*Gaming.

Depends on what your budget is really.

https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/2010-gaming-graphics-charts-high-quality/Sum-of-FPS-Benchmarks-1680x1050,2487.html

ATI rule supreme and have done for a while, but note that all those benchmarks towards the top have '2x' in them somewhere indicating 2 graphics cards. So if you really want the best of the best, get 2 of these:

Meanwhile, back in the world of sanity, i just bought myself one of these, ATi HD 5570 1024mb, £57:

I mostly bought it as it has no fan so it's not loud and annoying. It plays Bioshock 2 on full everything at 1680 x 1050 with not a hint of lag, so i really can;t throw anything else at it.

I've noticed ATI getting ahead recently aswell.
Was expecting nvidia to come out with some kick ass card to beat ATI but it hasn't happened and not sure they will anytime soon.
It's a shame really. ATI cards are usually ok but i don't like the control panel. Way buggy and they're not too fast getting out updated drivers for games etc.
