There are ones that are a watch, ones that look a bit like an iphone, and all come from hong kong.

I'm thinking of spending £50-£100 on a phone, and I know the safer choice would be a second hand one from a known brand, but I'm tempted to try a new one of these unbranded things instead.

Anyone had one ? Was it any good ?

I've had this sort of mp3 player and they were pretty good although I have to grudgingly admit than an ipod is better.

What are the phones like ?

I bought one as a Christmas present a couple of years ago.

Seemed to be pretty good but it only lasted till March as the power connector snapped off the circuit board.

The tech you get for the price is pretty unbelievable (dual SIM, touch screen for £80).

I was shown one of those once.

Looked very cheaply made and the LCD was terrible. Apparently it crashed all the time.

The person who had bought it recently called to ask why he wouldn't be able to recieve text messages all of a sudden. Hard to say if it was because the phone was cheap rubbish, but very tough to fine online support for a cheap knock off.

I'd stay well away

As long as your not expecting it to be anything like an iPhone.

I had one of the chinese Iphone mini things, and it was usable for what I needed (few calls and texts). Anything else just didn't work.

The fact that you could have 2 sims online at once was good, but it ate battery.
After a couple of weeks use, it was charged every 12 hours.
I got pissed off with this so binned it.

For £50-£100 you could get a decentish new UK phone, and Orange do the San Francisco thing for just over £100. I'm seriously considering buying one of them and unlocking (~£10).

Brought the SciPhone i9+++ - Iphone double.
Looked and did the same as the Iphone.
However there was no predictive text. I couldnt get on the interweb. Games were Java based which I just couldnt get.
The duel sim worked ok - I had 02 and Voda both running.
I still have it, but went back to contract after a couple of months.
