as titled really, has anyone got or had a Yam FZ6 Fazer?
The 2004 onwards one I'm talking about?

It would be a first bike for me, used as a daily workhorse with some long commutes, some long rides and the occasional 2 up mini tour.

Anyone got any idea?

i have an older style fazer, and love it to bits. the newer fz6's are even more lovely tho!

was talking to my instructor, who rides an fz6 pretty much all day every day, and said he even thought about getting one for himself!

i think they are fantastic, and they go on forever too.

havent ridden one tho, so i cant help in that manner.

why dont you take one for a test ride?

Not got my license yet, should have in a few weeks hopefully.

I've been offered a killer deal on one though that I am tempted to go for.
It feels a little silly to get a bike before a license or riding it but I'm sure I'll end up with a fazer, or a faired bandit600/650, or an er6f, or a cbf600 or something else similar. Given the deal offered I might go for it!

I bought one new in 2005.

It's a great bike and i've still got it. It was always compared unfavourably with its older brother, i don't know why.
Bike magazine hated it and published one of the most shittiest, crappiest, nit picking reviews ever.
I dont buy motorcycle magazines now(except for Motorcycle mechanics)
The riding position is comfortable,it can take a pillion no problem, and it's good round town.It also goes nicely on the open road. The finish is good, mine gets used in all weathers and there's only a few fasteners that have rusted.

The fz6 actually reminds me of a modern day four stroke 350 lc

Top Stuff. Thats good to know. I read a few of the reviews and wasnt sure what they were getting at. They seem to say its was an improvement on the old bike, but didnt like it...

I bought on anyway Very Happy

The problem with it is (as I understand it) down to the engine. The engine they used in that model is originally from the Yamaha R6, which is a very peaky bike. A 'detuned' version of this engine is actually not very suited to a 'My first big bike' type of bike. They were basically saying that you need to have a little bit of talent to use the bike to its full, whereas the older model with the Thundercat engine was very forgiving and was a good first bike.

I've never ridden one, but for me that doesn't sound like a disastrous downside, in fact it sounds like a lot of fun!

I have a 2007 Fz6. Nice little bike probably great for a first bike, its quite nippy but its comfy and handles quite well, its not going to have you out of the seat like an R6.

Not my favirote bike out of what I've owned but probably fits the purpose of commuting best, better than my bandit 6, mainly down to the better handling and more power.

Doesn't rust as much either, and I think it looks sexehs, when left naked!

I've got a 2005 FZ6, absolutely brilliant bike. Flexible engine, very flickable handling and very nippy while being easy to ride and comfy.

I'd recommend it to anyone. I've got the naked version which looks great.

How exactly? Being a sanitised FI modern 4T IL4 and weighing a ton are not attributes I'd even say in the same paragraph as "350LC".

I don't know exactly,on paper it's completely different. A four stroke, four cylinder.. It aint exactly heavy really though.
The way it delivers its power and the fact that it can keep up with more expensive "sportier" machines all contribute i spose.

I have owned a couple of LCs in the past so i am in a position to compare the two. Theres just a touch of LC about it.

I've got an early shape and it's perfect - apart from the gearbox isn't the best. Is the R6 'box any better?

I modded mine!

Great first bike though; big, comfy, tame in the low revs for commuting in the rain and power up-top if you wanted to mess around.

The pre-07 models have throttle cut-off issues on low RPM and very fluffy mid-RPM range. The injector system was adjusted for low & medium output in later models (S2).

4 cylinders and no mid range is a disaster. Twisted Evil

Wow, impressive cans on that!

I like the rear light too, I saw a smoked LED one on another bike once but haven't been able to get hold of one.

Cans sounded the sex !!! And light made a big difference to the rear end. Proper hooligan bikes they can be, may have to get another one.

I like the tidy look of the standard exhausts on mine equally though, don't think I can justify changing them. I do want a smoked rear light for it though, just to finish it off.
