Hi,

i'm now looking at fitting some renthal bars to my 2002 hornet and was wondering if i can use the original weights. On a brief inspection (still on the bike) the weights just screw into the bars. Is it possible to remove the threads from the originals and place it into the renthals?

Thanks for the help,
Shaun.

The bar weights fit using an expansion screw fit. As you screw them in it expands the part inside the bars which secures it tight. If you take off the weights screw in a scew and tap it you might be lucky and find it releases. Might end up being easier to replace them for new. I have a hornet and am thinking the same. Let me know how it goes and what bars you end up buying. Fancied straight ones myself but not sure of the clearance with throttle cables etc.

thanks for the reply,

i've already got some ultra low renthals, got them cheap(£5).
on another look at the original weights it looks like they may be too big for the renthals so to save any hassle i've just bought some new 13mm weights.

will let you know how i get on.

Shaun.

Cheers Shaun
I rather fancy some straightish bars bit like a monsters.
Just worried about if they would foul the throttle cables on full lock.
Mine are slightly bent soo must change them eventually.

hi,

fitted them on earlier, had no problems at all with cables, i just made sure there were no other cables getting in the way/crossed with each other. I can go lock to lock no problem.

I did however have a problem with the locating lugs on the switchgear but that is just specific to my bike.

These aren't the straightest you can get but they feel pretty good so far, i'm yet to test ride it due to the weather but i can't see there being any issues.

Just need to wait for the bar ends to arrive now
Cool

Shaun.
