I've got up to about £500 to take the missus away (obviously the less the better) either here in the UK or somewhere in Europe for 2 or 3 nights in April.

The problem I've got is that I have no imagination so I'm recruiting you lot. There's no real requirements other than there has to be really really good food avaliable. Shopping would obviously be a bonus as she's a girl and likes that sh!t. And not London.

Ideas?

We worked in Coventry for a week and she said it was the worst place she had ever been other than Stevenage.

Coventry is a fucking hole.

You might be able to slot in Prague? I remember paying about £90 for a return flight on a budget airline (Ryanair?), get some cheap accomadation (people will say hostels but given it;s with the missus I;d go for something a little more upmarket but still in budget) then the rest on spending money/sightseeing. It's a great city for a quick break with the missus and if the weathers good you simply cannot go wrong. Fackin tasty beer too!

I'd be single very quickly if I took her to a hostel.

Paris has an awesome atmosphere and plenty of stuff to do. There's tons of restaurants and coffee shops lining the streets and you'll find a creperie on nearly every corner Very Happy

Gets my vote. Barcelona is a great city. Interesting Gaudi stuff everywhere, the Nou Camp for you to bugger off to while she shops and some exceptional bars and restaurants.

Eating tapas and drinking plenty of cervezas on la ramblas is one of my more civilised and memorable holiday experiences.

Krakow.

Me and the Mrs went there between xmas & new year for 4 nights and it cost us about £600 all in.

Look up the Hotel Royal, great location, cheap as you like and nice enough rooms. Attatched to a gorgeous restaurant too.

A day trip to Auschwitz is about £25 each and is a must.

Barcelona gets my vote.

Awesome city, great architecture, lots of history, tons to see. Metro system is cheap, extremely reliable and can take you pretty much everywhere.

Through TravelZoo, me and my dad stayed in a 5* hotel (Hesperia Tower) for £60 per night in August '09. It was a little out of the centre, but only a 20 minute ride on the metro and the station was right outside our door.

Only downside I can see is eating and drinking isn't too cheap.

Dublin Thumbs Up

I went for a week over new years, flights and hotel came to £250 each based on 2 sharing. A bit expensive but definitely worth it.
