Can anyone recommend something good?
helping a friend with a website, he wants it for local car/bike enthusiasts to use as the current one is rubbish.
anyway, got the hosting sorted, checked out the stuff cpanel offers which is stuff such as mambo, xoops, geeklog, phpnuke etc, but they all just seem abit shit, so far phpnuke is being used just to play with but there's no developers for it, alot of the 'mod' sites are dead
and it's buggy / insecure as i've had issues with it in the past.

what i'm after is something that can be a forum with a few basic pages such as a gallery, calendar and a chat/shoutbox which i know these are easy enough to install if they are php anyway, but something with this shit thrown in would be nice, or just if someone can point me in a better direction.

i was thinking using a vb forum, but meh.

Joomla/Wordpress. Joomla is what i have used for a lot of people as it's pretty user friendly to set-up a basic website. To make Joomla SEO friendly you have to tweak it a bit, you can get templates or make your own. The forum side there are a few different ones that support joomla user integration, fireboard is just one of them

Im playing about with VB CMS and it seems ok but more aimed at a forum with a bit of CMS over a standard website.
