i have a Yamaha jog rr 50cc, my bike was really boggy with slow acceleration so i went down to the bike shop and he said i needed a new variator, i can get a standard one for £30 or a polini for £45 is it worth the extra £15 he said id gain more power, is this correct ?
thanks
Jack

Which polini variator is it? The sport one? The evolution kit? Or what?

the standard one is made by yamaha, and the polini one is https://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/p/POLINI-VARIATOR-SPEED-CONTROL--132.aspx
the guy told me that the polini is slightly better, i dont mind paying the extra £15 if it is, but if its the same then il save my money and get the standard one Smile

sounds more like your being messed around - never seen or heard a variator break - has he shown it too you? Its only a pully system, with some rollers and a back plate!

The speed control var is good value for money. But if I had the extra dosh, i'd pay up for the Polini 9 roller kit. That's only if you're into fiddling with lil 50's though lol

My variator decides it was going to chew up any rollers i put in it within 10 minutes.

They do break, from time to time. Sad
