Hi guys.

I am looking for some advice on what paint to spray onto a CG engine. I know that I'll need to do it thinly to avoid overheating. I was thinking halfords high temp paint, but after reading on their site that it's shite and scrapes off with your fingernail I'm not too sure what I should get.

Thanks for any recommendations. I'm not trying to do a really neat job. Just trying to protect it from corrosion and the likes and make it look good from a couple of feet.

Thanks for any recommendations etc.
Thumbs Up

It would be nice if it was something I could get from a shop today.

I used black high temp brush on exhaust paint on my pitbike engine. Bloody wasn't bad for a few quid to be fair. Lasted a good while, and the good bit about it was if a bit got damaged, you simply slapped on some more paint.

I'm told Barbeque paint is the best thing for this kind of job... B and Q or Homebase or something.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

We/I used to paint the engines of our/my moto-ball bikes with barbeque paint.
It lasted quiet well, but it was never an out of show-room finish.

If you just want to protect it from corrosion, the clean the existing corrosion back and occasionally treat it with ACF-50.

I plan to acf50 the whole bike, but this engine is from 1986 and is needing painted. I think I may go down the bbq paint route.

The engine has been sitting outside for who knows how long.

Thanks guys.
