Hi there, I have a Wuyang WY125 which is a Honda CG125 Chinese copy. It's done 1084 miles and it's been perfectly okay, but the other day when I was riding home from college it just stopped idling. When I pull up to traffic or I leave it on idle, the engine cuts out and I don't know why. I've checked the spark and the air filter and it's all okay, I have a feeling it may be rich but I don't know where the mixture screw is. Does anyone know where the mixture screw is or what the problem might be?

Could try turning your idel screw up a wee bit.
Its the screw on your carb ( asuming you know where and what this is ) . . . with a spring round it. Clockwise is the way you should turn it.

Had you gone through any big puddles or have anything unusall happen before this, its strange it would just start idelling funny.
But if its water then could be a few things . .

The mixture screw is the screw thats is resesed into the carb but dont touch it because it needs to be done properly, i dont know the setting and if you dont dont just play around with it.

I can't think of any puddles that i've been through that day, and as you said I did turn the idle up to remedy this, although it wouldn't idle without cutting out until about 4,000 RPM.

Just as an update.....I've managed to get the bike to idle at about 1900 RPM now but it only does it when it's warm, don't know how I managed it but there we go lol. I think I may have a blocked pilot jet but i'm not sure....It's a very rough idle, feels like it could cut out at any moment, and also after rolling off the throttle it ALWAYS pops at the end of the exhaust, which leads me to believe too much fuel....Any ideas?

sounds like you either have an air leak on the manifold or a blocked idle jet circuit in your carb leaving your bike running lean at low revs.

Could your choke be malfunctioning? Might make the mixture too rich to run at lower revs getting better as the engine warms up as it can burn stuff more efficiently but still not handle things properly.

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

I'm thinking it's the idle jet as you said, you're the second person to suggest this to me. As for the choke, I don't think it's malfunctioning as it does it's job and there's a significant difference in the engine operation when it's engaged and disengaged which proves this. Thanks for the input guys.

I have a Wuyang, and I have suffered from this fault, on the offside of the bike, behind the side panel, there is a black box with two vaccum pipes going into the bottom of it, and wires going into the top left hand side of it. Where the vacuum pipes go into it, the plastic bit comes loose, I just tightened mine, and the fault was cured.
I hope this helps.

Definitely, I have major electrically issues at the moment, one minute the bike runs fine, then it won't start, and everything is earthed out, and the only place that have a wiring diagram, want £40 for it !!! I want a new bike, but can't afford it, so I will just have to persist with this one. If anyone has any ideas, I would love to here them.
