fireblade gear clunk

Hi guys

Now i know honda gearboxes are clunky, but my 2001 'blade has developed an annoying habit of clunking at times other than when i initially click into gear.

Its most noticeable in first and second when pulling away quickly. As i roll the throttle and meet the biting point that is when i get a cluck from what seems like the gear box or front sprocket area. It also happens if i decelerate quickly in these gears. I've had this happen on other bikes when i really hammer it but its happening all the time on the blade. The sound is very similar to the clunk you get when you click into first.

I have recently changed clutch cables and chain and sprockets so i guess it could be something i've fiddled with although everything seems sound. Any ideas appreciated.

I have the same problem on my ER5. I adjusted the clutch lever and it's all gone.

Personally I think it's the gear engaging too quickly, as if you're dumping the clutch.

I get a clunk when i throttle on quickly from none, or let off quickly, it'll also do it if i blip the clutch as if i'm going to wheelie.

God knows what it is unfortunately.

C_dug is right, innertube, also clunking isnt a massive deal, adjust your clutch cable, theres 2 adjusters, one on the engine one on the handle bar normally.
Failing that its normal, think about how fast those gears turn and you have to mash them into each other to engage them.
