Would an sp1 be too much of a handfull moving from my monster? I ride like a chicken pretty much all the time Laughing the other bike I was thinking of was a daytona 600 but I'd prefer a twin. Both around 3k or would I be better off with the older firestorm? (I prefer the sp1 though)

Sp1 is fully faired, newer looking one with 130hp. Your talking about the one with 95hp right?

Beautiful bikes, you don't notice the weight once you start and with some race cans it puts a smile on your face everytime.

A few on here know what my bike sounds like and all I have ever got is compliments... Smile Thumbs Up

SP1s are properly epic bikes to own and ride. Even with all the grief mine gave it, I still loved it to bits. Try to get one with a Power Commander already fitted and setup as it transforms the bike (and saves you ~30% on your fuel bill.... seriously).

On paper they are pretty mundane but they feel a lot faster than they actually are. Just keep in mind that they are absolute pigs to ride in town, with a mapped PCIII and 2 extra teeth on the rear sprocket mine was lumpy but passable, as stock they are almost hazardous if you ask me. It will either teach you immaculate throttle control, or it will break you Laughing

i wasn't meaning it was bad thing
i don't like Honda's and very rare i have rode one i like but the sp1 and 2 are fantastic
its one of them bikes i want to dislike but cant
the Colin Edwards castrol paint job is a nice touch not as common as the repsol stuff
that and the ntv are the only 2 i would own

My Ducati stutters a bit below 3k but I'm not sure how it compares. The ones I've seen have 20/30k on the clock is that OK? What is servicing like? How does is compare to the RSV? I want the slower out of the two Laughing

Mines just touched 30K and its still amazing. The bike its self is hugely over engineered. Its easy to work on and service ( I do it all my self) Its got geared cams so you get the wine of the cams and no chain adjuster to worry about.

I think mines had a hard life, untill I stripped it down over winter, sorted it, and cleaned it. before you rule it out get a ride on one, your more than welcome to have a quick go on mine, ( As long as I get the Duke as a deposit! Razz )

They wont drop more in price than 3K mostly becasue most have a few trick bits, and they are looked after bikes. Like im sending my rear Ohlins to be serviced.

I have spent a great deal of time, effort and money on this and best of all it showes and it turnes heads!

Is there a video of your sp1, blackwolf? I've always loved them, and was considering a firestorm as my first 'big bike', but for sensible reasons (mpg mainly), I think I'll be going for a zzr600 to start with. I'd love a SP1 though. Cool

I'm 20 and live in London Crying or Very sad

I can imagine it must sound awesome, I'm going to miss mine with the Termis. I have to discount the SP1 because there is no way I'm paying that much to insure it!

Will try again though

Go on you know you want one...

Truly fantastic bikes, well to look at and listen too never been on one. I remember seeing a mates neighbour pulling one out of his garage, my friend turns to me and says "that guys a dick" his reason? the bike was too loud and every time he started it, it pissed everyone off Laughing I then saw what he meant when the guy started it up and errm WOW one of the best sounds I have ever heard!

Definitely a bike I want to own one day, and surprised how cheap they go for.

Oh and rac3r saw your other thread, get an rsv Thumbs Up

If the RSV and SP1 cost the same to insure I'd get the SP1 but the RSV is a hell of a lot cheaper to buy AND insure. I just need to go and see if I can fit on one Laughing

V Twin sound is one of the reasons I'm considering these bikes

I'd rather get SV650 and rag the shit out of it, a lot cheaper in every way. But if you're posing queen like i use to be then yeah get sp1/2 but keep in mind that insurance will be high, VTR is one of the if not the worst fuel consumption bike, parts are expensive, nightmare to ride in traffic, bikes themselves are very rare so be prepared to pay the markup on top of normal cost.

What's the point in an SV when it's pretty much the same as what I have now (in terms of power anyway). I'm not buying a bike for the sake of it it's because I WANT it
