Just noticed these can be bought on a car for about £165 or so, they fit on the inside of the rim through the valve hole and display the temperatures on an LCD screen.

Due to how 'touchy' bikes can be with pressures, anyone ever seen a bike with them? You'd kind of expect them as standard on say... a £13k S1000R really

Kawasaki GTR1400's the only one that springs to mind.

I think some BMWs have them too.

I prefer to keep my attention on the road and not have to keep checking all the screens. To tell me something that I can feel when riding...

The immense cost compared with the free version of just checking yourself every now and then...no comparison really!! Cool

To be fair, I have never found this ... the odd PSI between friends makes very little difference on the road!

I wouldn't call it an immense cost, cheaper than most cans or a minor service. Probably more 'sensible' than a lot of mods I have made for a similar price.

However the added weight and the relative pointless-ness of it is more than reason enough not to bother.

Besides if my pressures are getting low I can feel it the back moves about a bit more and the front is heavy and want to run wide.

You can buy valve caps with a mechanical pressure sensor built into them for about a fiver. If you can see green, pressure is ok. If you can see red, needs attention.

I think some BMWs have them too.

Was reading a copy of Motorcycling Sport & Leisure at the weekend.
One of their long term freebie bikes is a BMW with these fitted.
Update said one of the valves had started leaking.

Then you're lucky.
On my bikes the tyre pressure is the one biggie that affects handling more than anything else. I can feel when it's not quite right.

You can mess about with suspension, luggage packing, different tyres, etc. all you like (and probably waste a deal of money) and it makes sod all difference compared to the correct tyre pressures (for the tyre/conditions/load).

Is the weight of these safe to use? I've heard of some types of caps ripping the valve off at high speeds.

I have had issues with these when we were tyre fitting, three or four customers brought wheels in to check for slow punctures, these valves were the problem each time. Not sure what make they were though.

When I had slightly overinflated tyres i found it made the handling awful and felt like I was going to fall off at each corner, I ended up going wide on a roundabout and almost went head on with another car (gravel didnt help..)

Got home and found the pressure where out, changed them and had no problems since.
