What a total shambles Avon tyres are.

I go through a set of tyres about every 5/6 weeks or so, found Avon storm 2's to fit my style of riding, they have decent grip in all conditions and have a fair miles per penny rate compared to some others.

Has a rear fitted a week ago, now after another 2000 miles I need a front. 120-70-18
Usual dealer "4 weeks"

So, phone around, nobody i tried has one.

The story is, Avon will be putting these into production in 2 weeks time, the run they are doing is expected to not fulfill the current backorders so if you order one now it could take a couple of months or longer to get one

Usual choice of Bridgestone 021 i don't like, find them too slippery in the wet and dealers (all i tried) refuse to fit the 023 because it's not recommended for the ST1100 on the Bridgestone website.

Final outcome for now is i'm having an Avon 110-80-18 as fitted to the non-abs versions, that'll do me for a month and a bit but what then?

Before it is said, yes it upsets the abs (probably) but as my rear sensor is screwed it's not going to matter.

If you're getting through tyres every 6 weeks.... buy a car.

or you're doing something seriously wrong lol. surely it's far better to get yourself a car... save on tyres as most car tyres will do 15k or so with some careful driving.

i would just tell them its your bike and get them to fit the 023's. i have just had an 023 rear on my fazer, done about 1000miles and it still looks like new. when the front goes very soon, i will get the 023 to match. lovely and grippy in all conditions.

thats your best bet to be honest.

I'll happily sell you an 023 - just take it to any tyre place and get it fitted - problem solved.

Can't you just order the 023s & take the loose wheels in? how will they know what bike it's for?

If you can get to Reading, Mark at rideinbiketyres has always been helpful - he's flexible and friendly generally. He's happy to get tyres delivered to him to fit when you come in.

Oh and all the Avon's I've used sucked, so doesn't surprise me much their service aint great . Just had similar issues finding specific Maxxis dirt tyres. Wouldn't normally bother with Maxxis, but for off-road it's not quite the same.

It's all very well saying that it's your bike and you'll ride on whatever tyres you like but your insurance company may not share your viewpoint if you run over some kittens.
