LCD monitor or LCD TV?

Hi,
Im looking to buy a 22" flat screen LCD monitor for my desk top PC. I have heard that i could use a 22" LCD TV as a monitor instead of buying a dedicated monitor. What id like to know is would there be any advantages in picture quality or performance between using an LCD TV as a monitor, or buying an LCD monitor? The advantage of the LCD TV is that i could use it as a TV in my Bedroom, but it's more expensive than just buying a same size monitor, and i don't know if the performance as a PC monitor is better or worse when using an LCD TV as a PC monitor?

Any input or suggestions on which is the best option would be really appreciated.

The TV will work just as well for viewing pictures, and maybe better than some monitors for video.
Text can be rendered rather poorly though.

No doubt the more you spend the better the performance either way round.
I'd go for the monitor TBH.

5ms is standard for a lot of monitors. 2ms is also quite achievable on a limited budget nowadays

I use my 37" Toshiba LCD TV as a second monitor. It's not grainy at all, I sometimes sit about 10 inches away from it at my desk, and everything looks perfect. It's great for watching movies on when I'm sat in bed, and browsing forums. I don't know why people say they look shite up close, it looks perfectly fine. I'm using it right now, from less then 1 foot away and everything looks perfect!

When people say that they look shit up close what they mean is that the pixels are huge. Sat 1 foot from a 1080p 22" monitor looks the same as being sat 4 foot from a 37" 1080p. So if it's going on your desk go with the monitor over the TV.

I am looking at a 20" Monitor and a 37" TV right now, at the same time, and I can't tell a huge difference. I prefer to use the TV!

Don't get me wrong, the Monitor is better quality up close, but not massively, I definitely wouldn't class the TV as "Grainy shit"

It's all about the specs/quality of either unit.
Exactly the same lcd screen may be in both; but that may be a good or bad one.
Of course with the TV then there's the question of sound quality too.

A monitor will always be better quality then an LCD, but the LCD is still very usable as a monitor, its just not as pin sharp!

With regards to sound, most people will use the same sound output from the PC, I don't use my TV's sound output when I use it as a monitor.
