Help for Heroes is one of the very few charity's I wince whenever I hear it's name. Not so much the charity itself but more the way it is (or at least was) whored by the Sun. The odd articles I read in colleagues copy of the Sun regarding HFH just seemed.... Shamelessly paper selling orientated. Felt like I was reading reasons why the Sun is so great with the self congratulating 'thank you Sun for giving me back my kitten'. Not the 'this is a charity that needs help' kinda articles they should be?

Ooooo don't I sound grumpy. That's rare for me!

*makes a note in his diary and wanders off to have new experiences with cynicism* Very Happy

So glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. It really pisses me off that they're trying to infer that they're pushing the only veteran's charity, too.

Indeed; I'm sceptical generally; "Help for people who choose to be paid to kill others for some international posturing of our previous prime minster" doesn't sound quite so inviting Wink.
Many people are heroes for many reasons; including I'm sure some in the military.
'Help for Heroes' seems to have got in to a status as "the" charity through good marketing more than anything (whether intentionally or not) with the majority of those 'supporting' it seemingly having no real ideal what their money is going for.

I can kind of see where you are coming from but its about supporting widdows and families in general .Anyone who works for the government knows that compensation is rubbish and completely inadequate. For the soldiers themselves its an occupational hazard, but i couldn't for one second do their job.

Back to the subject anyhoo!

I think there has been some cheating here, that R1 did like they always do and came from nowhere and flew past. Its taken us weeks to get to the top and this thing does it in a couple of hours, thats just not right or posssible unless someones written some kind of cheat.

Anyhoo, we need your votes more than ever now please vote as many times as you can

Hmm, is that a general anti soldier feeling? I will admit, I still buy poppy's. I am also not that opposed to Help for Heroes as a charity for soldiers. Its more the 'hype' and the use of the charity by the Sun that I find myself opposed too.

This I do agree on. It has definitely become an 'it' charity. Whether that's the company's like the Sun's fault or the charity's fault, I also don't know. But it sours it doesn't it? It is a shame.
