Well i need a rear wheel for my 1993 KX125, but im finding it hard to find a wheel from the same year bike, so does anyone know if i can fit for example a rear wheel from a 1989 or 1999?

I know there are changed between the years, but i cant find any info if there rear wheels can be swapped between years.

Whats wrong with the wheel?
I'm not familiar with KMX liniology, & I have a feeling that early examples were drum braked, later disc, which would give a definite change point. But the Chapter of doom, 'Revisions for Later Models' of the Haynes manual would be your guiding light here.
HOWEVER, depending on whats wrong, spoked dirt-bike wheels are emminantly repairable!
If its not too bad, they can be re-trued by a decent wheel builder, or re-spoked or re-rimmed, provided you still have the hub and its not cracked or anything. Maybe worth googling wheel-builders, see if it can be reconditioned.
Prices may be a bit scary, BUT, 2nd hand dirt-bike wheels are a bit of a risk, & you might have to add the price of a true up onto the e-bay win price to be sure its good anyway.

Mechanics and breakers sell these on ebay and know what they are talking about.

Eh? Both of you are talking about the KMX125 which is rather a different bike as far as I know! Doubt there's a Haynes manual for the KX.

There will be some wheels that fit I'm sure, but I don't know the exact details - if it was a KTM/Husaberg from the last 15 years I could tell you pretty precisely!

I take in whay you are saying about re-using my wheel, i dont suppose you know anywhere that sells spokes do you as i feel i will be able to re-lace the wheel myself but i cant find anyone that sells spokes...

Thanks, Tom

On ebay: https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390183022844

Or talk to your local bike parts place or wheel builder, who should be able to sort you out. Me, I'm not that confident doing it, though I did find a few loose spokes on my new to me KTM300 and merely tightened them with some pliers before a few hours (soft surface to be fair) riding and it was fine Smile.

My 1989 KX125 has a rear disk brake. I can take some measurements if you'd like.

Thanks for the replies, i popped into my local motorcross bike place today and the guy in there said he would re-spoke my wheel for £75 so ill check my wheel out this weekend and if its ok ill get it re-spoked.

I just dont understand how my wheels is soo busted, none of the spokes are broken, but all of them are loose and there is about 1/2" play each side if i push the wheel, so its not like they are only slightly loose spokes.

Also the nipples are tightened up all the way down to the end of the threads on the spoked.
