1 Piece leathers

Couple of questions about these, in the 10 years of riding I’ve never owned a pair and quite fancy a set.

Firstly, I’m 5”10 about 160lbs (11.5 stone) medium build i guess. What size leathers would i be looking for?
The other thing is, what do you wear generally underneath a set? Can you seriously keep warm underneath that with a thin layer?

I would say if you feel the cold then for winter-ish weather you will suffer.
At most you'll be able to wear a technical base layer and a thin-ish jumper.
The woolen type of base layers afford the most insulation.

Off the peg may fit or may not. It's a compromise between what you can afford and what you are prepared to feel/look like.

Custom tailored is not that expensive if you intend to keep for some years.
Good leathers will last for ages so that could be an option.
Or you could get a decent cheap garment to see how you get on with it.

Going for a poo is always an effort as you need to strip off to do so.

I use troos and a jacket without issue.

But one piece 'should' fit like a second skin.

I bought my first 1 piece last year. I tried on a few at Infinity motorcycles to get an idea of size and then bought a Spyke 1 piece off ebay as I thought they were the best value for money.

As above, they are not great for the winter thanks to good ventilation. I have a set of thermals which kept me warmish last weekend but my thermals, hoody, jeans and a textile jacket keep me warmer during the colder months.

To be honest i wanted a set for 2 things, 1, the most protection, 2, looks good
I’ve done fine with a decent leather jacket with layers and a set of textile trousers, just fancied a set really.
Might not be worth the investment for me, don’t want to wear it 3 times and then get annoyed with it.

Bro, you're welcome to swing round mine and try out mine. I should be around all weekend but might be out on the bike if the weather's good.

I've got a 40 UK and an 42 UK but both feel the same once I've got my base layer and back protector on. I wear a base layer in ALL conditions since they wick away sweat in summer but maintain an insulating layer. I've got a lot of that stuff for when I run/work out - nike compression shirts/underarmor type things. Then I wear a T-shirt on top of the base layer, then my back protector. I've got the Knox fastback gilet/vest type jobbies which i prefer to my Alpinestars Tech Race (which came free with my suit). I was at hein gericke earlier was toying with the idea of getting an EDZ shellsuit/windstopper but to be fair it's the stretch panels that are letting the cold in rather than the leathers themselves.

I was tempted to sell my old alpinestars but might keep it since my other set are fully perforated. Wore them last week and they were bearable but the cold snap has come in. My leathers get a LOT of use and I look after them by treating them to nikwax leather conditioner (waterproofer).

I'm 5'9, 12.5 stone (80kg), stocky upper but fit into size 32" jeans and mostly wear M.

Get a used set of ebay once you know your size but you're more than welcome to have a try on mine.
