When are you convicted for going down a one way street

I turned left at a junction and noticed the no through road signs, then halfway down the road I saw a mo entry sign 10m's up the road and realised it was a one way street, will i get 3 points for this or is the offence commited once I've ignored the no entry signs (which I didn't I turned around before passing them) thanks

You sure you got caught?

It is a none endorsable fine of £60 , or it was when I got caught 3 years ago!

I couldn't see a camera and didn't actually pass any road signs saying it was one way , but I'm a newbie and only had my full license 5 months so worry

If there was a 'no through road' sign it sounds like you enetered in a two way bit, no point in having one otherwise. The no entrys probably marked the demarcation of the one way section unless they were repeaters at a side road junction. Do you have a googlemap link to the actual location?

The simple answer is if/when you get caught, factoring in the mood of the person who caught you, your attitude to them and how near the end of their shift it is.

Technically it's is an endorsable offence:
TS50: Failing to comply with traffic sign (excluding 'stop' signs, traffic lights or double white lines). Which carries a maximum 3 points and £60 fine. In reality, from what you describe, I'd expect a brief lecture from any halfway sensible copper.

They did my brother on a TS50 recently for driving straight over a mini roundabout (bored coppers anyone?). He got a £30 fine and no points.

This is assuming there was actually a sign to comply with. If there wasn't, they can't fine you for failing to comply with it.

I have a one way street right outside my window - which leads into the Uni here. Countless times a night I see the security guards going up the road, for a short cut back to there office.

You're in the clear. That is a very badly designed one way from the George Street junction for a few metres into Lime Street. It's badly designed because it's short enough to make people think it's worth going the wrong way as they can see the other end clearly. You were in a two way road up until the no entrys.

The only thing that worried me was the markings on the road which are facing the wrong way, the no entry signs should be 20m's further back

To be honest if you got a ticket for ridng through the no entrys you could contest it. The start of ther one way should have a blue one way plate on both sides of the road and it doesn't. In addition the no entrys should have 'return to two way traffic' plates on the back to warn people to expect to meet oncoming traffic. It's a sloppy job all round.
